Well the whole experience wasn't too bad for DD - she is a kids courier with a well known Camping Comany in France this year

(So you can all leave your kids to play with her and sit on the French beach in peace)

I WAS that teen once. I used to ask parents if i could borrow their children.

Was always stunned when they would hand them over. I just didn't understand why they wouldn't want to be playing with them all the time

I was Godmother at 15 as i looked after 1 little boy so much. I used to ask for him to stay for the weekend.

I am now desperate to have a teen me move in next door.

I like playing with my own dc
she is fun

just not random urchins

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 28/02/2010 19:02

Especially if they are touchy feely urchins
and in the swimming pool

skin to skin contact with other peoples kids
ugh

oldraver · 28/02/2010 19:45

Oh dear, DS aged 4 is rather prone to gatecrashing 'big boys' footie games on the park. He sees a ball and is off. I do have the decency to drag him away after 10 minutes a while and a I wouldnt let him bother random parents

"skin to skin contact with other peoples kids

yea, if dd homes in on a family, i offer to remove her or distract her. BUt if they say 'n o, it's fine' & appear to mean it, i let her stay. however, i keep a close eye on things. of course, i have ended up sitting in the baby pool, by myself, like a muppet, waiting for dd to get bored & return to me!!

generally, most places like pools/beaches, it's every kid for themselves. if you want private play time with your kids, you'd do something fun at home, wouldn't you? different with under 5's, they need more supervision, but older kids, imo, should be left to get on with it.

'Still, nothing beats when one Mum asked if I wanted to see her birthing video...'Oh, yes, and look here you can see all of my placenta...'
'

an online friend I knew elsewhere (we worked together but never met IYKWIM) sent me a birth announce, ment with a link to a pic of her new baby which I cheerily clicked......

to find her and her DH naked in a birthinig pool holding said baby

Has stayed with me ever since!
