Have namechanged for this given that ds has only been in for about half an hour.....
DS has come back from a party smelling really strongly of cigarette smoke . I nearly had a heart attack when he told me there was a smoke bowl ..... fortunately / unfortunately it turned out to be an ashtray . He now tells me he really likes the smell of cigarette smoke. . There were about six adults sat through the party chain smoking - nobody went outside to light up at any point! Am fuming!

OI! i live on an estate! and i already said i go outside

josieandthepussycats · 26/02/2010 22:04

Noddyholder - the party was only 2 hours, hardly a lifetime to stop smoking.

Turniphead - contraversial, but perceptive

I was joking I live on a council estate

Whoamireally · 26/02/2010 22:06

Sorry GItK. You're right it was mean to snurk.

usualsuspect · 26/02/2010 22:07

God forbid he befriends a common smokers child

GoddessInTheKitchen · 26/02/2010 22:08

i was only joking (i do live on an estate though)

i don't do offended

josieandthepussycats · 26/02/2010 22:09

Yes it was to paraphrase a 'common family on a council estate'.

OP posts:
GoddessInTheKitchen · 26/02/2010 22:10

i'm waay too common

laydeestardust · 26/02/2010 22:11

Josie,

I don't particularly disagree with you-as I said I don't like the smell or the health risks, and I'm not a smoker, but I'm not sure what actual harm you think your DS will have suffered in one afternoon?

usualsuspect · 26/02/2010 22:12

Giz a fag then GITK ..I've only got rollies

josieandthepussycats · 26/02/2010 22:13

Just to clarify I was brought up on a council estate and my sister still lives on one, I still wouldnt expect that to happen. Most normal coucil estates arent like that - that sort or behaviour is what I expect from the shameless style estates you see on tv.

oh for crying out loud...get over yourself.

It was one party for a short period of time.

They have different standards from you - you will meet MANY more parents like this in your child's life.

GoddessInTheKitchen · 26/02/2010 22:15

tis what i meant i only have rollies too...

being from a poor common family on an estate an all that, gotta save money for me cider (joke btw)

Maleeka · 26/02/2010 22:19

Seriously, all the people on here defending the smoker, would it really kill you to go without for 2 hours or at least have the decency to go outside?

I have friends who smoke and when they come round my house, they smoke outside, if i come to their houses, they smoke outside. Its common courtesy!

josieandthepussycats · 26/02/2010 22:21

newsflash - have just had a text from another parent to say she is having to wash her sons stuff straight away is stinks so badly. Apparently she when she collected her son (around 6pm) the birthday boys mum (already drinking alcohol with her friends / family ) said they had only started drinking half an hour before ...... thats alright then... My friends son had a really good time though the house was 'way better than his.. and the mum was super cool'! What a role model to compete with

HuwEdwards · 26/02/2010 22:21

Maleeka, I agree, but do prescribe this before your child goes to a party? Proba not, so I think, just MOVE ON (to op)

josieandthepussycats · 26/02/2010 22:23

HUW - I dont want my kids stinking of fags why is that unreasonable. Go outside for petes sake if you want to smoke. Normal people do.

HuwEdwards · 26/02/2010 22:23

Fuck me, serving alcohol????

to adults???

SHOOT them.

usualsuspect · 26/02/2010 22:24

OMG drinking at six >>>call SS now

josieandthepussycats · 26/02/2010 22:28

when someone take responsiblity for my children at a house party - i do not want them drinking while they are supervising my children. Do you really think they only started drinking half an hour before they told my friend . Its not on.

OP posts:
Maleeka · 26/02/2010 22:32

Huw, it wouldnt occur to me to find out if the adults would be chain smoking around my kids to be honest.

My kids have been to so many bleedin parties that i'm surprised that i'm not bankrupt and am secretely jumping for joy when they dont get a party invite , but they have never ever come home stinkin of fags!

GoddessInTheKitchen · 26/02/2010 22:33

they may have, you weren't there

unless she was rolling around drunk then i wouldn't be bothered about the drink

usualsuspect · 26/02/2010 22:36

I would be pissed off I wasn't invited if the drink was flowing
