to think a youtube video of my kids in the bath is not "inappropriate content"?

Have namechanged for this...

I have several videos on youtube, including one of DD1 (2.4) and DD2 (6 months) in the bath. Youtube have removed it - only explanation given is: "Rejected (content inappropriate)"

As fasr as I can see, youtube guidelines only ban porn, not nudity, and it says videos are not taken down automatically by the system, but only after being reviewed by youtube after being flagged by a user.

AIBU to be and that innocent childhood nudity is considered "inappropriate" and censored in this way?

OK, just one last post on this thread to answer a few things before I bow out as I'm getting a bit fed up of being called naive, stupid and obtuse...

I name changed because I don't want my sister/SIL recognising this incident on mumsnet and therefore being able to look up all my previous posts. (maybe there is some irony here - protecting my own privacy but not my dcs' - just thought I would say it before someone else did.....)

The reason I posted this in AIBU is that I assumed the video had been removed because youtube is an American website and Americans seem to have quite different views on nudity so I thought I might get different views on MN.

I still don't quite see the "harm" in putting this video on youtube from a paedophile pov. However I accept that maybe it's not something my kids would be happy about when they're older and I admit I hadn't thought about that as they're only tiny at the moment but it's a valid point.

Thanks to those (few) of you who did understand my point of view, and I will definitely take all some of the other points on board.

why the fxxk would you have this on youtube?????

porcamiseria · 22/02/2010 12:09

sorry, posted too fast and did not read latest comment, I was a tad harsh

BUT, someone I know had a nude photo on their photo sharing website of their kid, guess which was the most viewed photo? enough said.....

Rollmops · 22/02/2010 12:52

Why would you put something so personal on thecraptube?
One wonders who are those weirdos posting there and hey presto, found one...
Not impressed.

GypsyMoth · 22/02/2010 12:58

i'm sure you could find alternative videos to post....if you feel you have to put something on there!!

CirrhosisByTheSea · 22/02/2010 13:18

dontcensor, maybe this thread has been really useful then in helping you think about privacy issues for your children. When they are tiny they do feel completely 'ours' but they at no point are completely 'ours'. They are individuals from day one, with their own rights. Including the right to privacy. I do think according them the same courtesy you do yourself, is the way to go (as you pointed out, you're protecting yourself here with a namechange)

If it helps you to find more appropriate places to share videos of your kids then it's a useful thread I think.

porcamiseria · 22/02/2010 13:23

I still don't quite see the "harm" in putting this video on youtube from a paedophile pov

again, as someone else posted, this is level 1 child porn, why would you even risk some strange paedo tosser looking at your kids? this is has quite upset me...

I dont think you get why people are freaked!!!

Rosa · 22/02/2010 13:35

I say well done to You Tube to taking it off . Its not something I would click on to watch anyway but there are others who would just lurrve it.

@Karenhunterfiftyfive I’d imagine it would’ve been more helpful a decade ago. What a bizarre thing to dig up.

Why would you put that on YouTube?

Mothership4two · 29/08/2020 01:29

I don't put any photos of my kids on social media. I didn't when they didn't have the mental capacity to understand. Later I asked them, when they were old enough, if I could and they both said no.

OP's children may be quite p**ed off with her when they are older that she has put up public images of their private moments

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 29/08/2020 01:32

ZOMBIE!

Sparklesocks · 29/08/2020 01:32

This thread is 10 years old!!

CustardySergeant · 29/08/2020 01:37

Mothership4twoo "OP's children may be quite ped off with her when they are older that she has put up public images of their private moments"

They're already older, the OP started this thread 10½ years ago!

Deadringer · 29/08/2020 01:43

Would love an update on this from the op, how she feels about it now.

Mothership4two · 29/08/2020 02:12

Thanks @CustardySergeant. Didn't realise Zombie. How did that happen?

Mind you my opinion still stands, bet they will be p*ed off when older (if not now)

1forAll74 · 29/08/2020 02:26

Quite ridiculous to put photo's on the internet of your own children in the bath, whether to be viewed by family or not. People are aware of what children look like in a bath, at bath time. It is private family time !

Leaannb · 29/08/2020 03:33

@onagar

YANBU, but nowadays everyone will think you are.

Remember that celebrity? She sent photos of her kids in the bath to boots to be developed and they reported her to the police.

If you see kids in the bath you are supposed to go "awwww aint they cute" not "who can I report this too" which says a lot about what our society has become

Too many people masquerade to naked video of children
ItsLateHumpty · 29/08/2020 03:35

What were you searching for @Karenhunterfiftyfive that you not only found a 10 YEAR OLD THREAD you then also thought you‘d post on it? 🤔

oreshina · 29/08/2020 04:15

YABU

It is to protect children and their images from getting into the wrong hands.

Durgasarrow · 29/08/2020 05:48

You're joking right

Rockbird · 29/08/2020 06:12

Blimey I was argumentative on this thread Grin. I had more energy 10 years ago...
