Just got back from taking ds17,dd6 and ds3 on short break, we had family room with 2 doubles. DD wanted to share with her big brother and ds3 wanted to share with me.I agreed to this, had no qualms about it other than i thought that my 17 yr old would get fed up of dds constant wriggling.
In conversation at school today, mentioned the room arrangements and one of the mothers said that this is illegal and that i shld keep quiet as some people may find it a bit odd. Is it me or has the world gone mad?

world gone mad

Bonsoir · 22/02/2010 10:16

LOL DD regularly shares a bed with her two brothers (nearly 15 and 12), sometimes both together. And when her brothers had a friend over for a sleepover, all four children slept in the same bed.

Great family memories.

JaneS · 22/02/2010 10:18

I think it's not legal for the council to require you to make DD share with her brother. That's a bit different!

iwasyoungonce · 22/02/2010 10:19

Ignore. She's the weirdo, not you!

Boys2mam · 22/02/2010 10:19

I think its lovely that a 17 yr old would let want his little sister to be in with him, let alone go on a family hol.

World gone mad, definetly NBU.

frazzled74 · 22/02/2010 10:20

oh good, its not me then.

I think it's as LittleRedDragon says. That mum has misunderstood completely.

Boys2mam · 22/02/2010 10:21

definitely

thedollshouse · 22/02/2010 10:21

My brother is 10 years older than me and I used to regularly sleep in his bed because I was too scared to sleep on my own. My brother met his first serious girlfriend when he was 18 and wouldn't allow me in his bed after that but I would often sneak in when he was asleep.

pixiestix · 22/02/2010 10:23

Ahh, your 17 year old sounds lovely!
YADNBU

pagwatch · 22/02/2010 10:28

DS1 is 16, DD is 7..
her idea of heaven is when he lets her sleep in his room. They watch a DVD ( like Dr Who ) and then he tells her to stop being annoying and to go to bloody sleep . He has nearly trainned her to get him a cup oftea in the morning.

He is her hero

Bonsoir · 22/02/2010 10:30

"He has nearly trainned her to get him a cup oftea in the morning."

LOL

The DSSs are trying to train DD to tidy their room...

addictedtomn · 22/02/2010 10:49

pagwatch · 22/02/2010 10:55

You have to admire their cheek but it drives me mad - and she is just so grateful when he asks her to be his pet slave.

elmofan · 22/02/2010 10:56

Fortunately she hasn't fallen for it yet!

msrisotto · 22/02/2010 11:00

Your friend is a nutter. YANBU!

Bonsoir · 22/02/2010 11:00

Two older brothers you adore and who adore you but who are mercilessly trying to exploit you must surely be great self-defence training for later life...

sb6699 · 22/02/2010 11:09

My DD's (5 & 3) regularly climb into their older brother's (11) bed - he is their hero!

Hadnt even thought that anyone would think siblings sharing a bed is inappropriate.

Definately the world gone mad (or just your friend).

onlyjoinedforoffers · 22/02/2010 11:12

i used to love getting into bed with my older brothers especially db3 who very sadly died 3 years ago .I have treasured memories of him teaching me all about music and asking me pop quiz some people are unbelievable nowadays

frazzled74 · 22/02/2010 11:29

she works in childcare and does seem to have issues about everything child related,(perhaps overzealous and misinterpreting the training courses)
my ds pays dd to hoover and dust his room ,
