the easy answer is of course for attention, but just scanning the dizzymare thread and I just dont get it. having been taken in a couple of times Im quite cynical now and try not to get too involved, but thats really sad. Ive had a lot of support from mn over the years, and its a shame that people like CVQ and dizzymare ruin it for those who really need help and support.

cornsilk, no....that would give DH's and SO control over MN if they are internet-savvy enough................nah, that is a bad bad thought, you must take it back immediately!!!

blackletter, money is a bog facter for some I reckon, but attention is the biggest. they get a real kick I think.

BlackLetterDay · 20/02/2010 23:50

CVQ was obvious, the first thread I remember from her was late at night and her ds was very ill. There was no way she could be posting so often and looking after a sick child, it just escalated from there with an ever increasing and unbelievable back story.

psychomum5 · 20/02/2010 23:51

well, on the CvQ front it took me ages, and only when she started using my stuff against me IYGWIM.

ethanchristopher, I didn;t at first, and then started wondering......dizzymare didnt ring true, but by the time she was here I was on the beginning of my flounce break from MN so didn;t see how it all panned out in the end. Flame told me about her......flame kept me updated on MN thoughout my flounce in fact.....and texts and emails from some others here that had them.

RL needed me tho, plus I had invested a tad too much so needed a step back.

RL punished me tho good an proper.....look what it does......tries to bloody break me completely.

psychomum5 · 20/02/2010 23:52

I was on that very first thread, and more fool me got taken in hook line and sinker.

BlackLetterDay · 20/02/2010 23:52

Yes they do seem to have a knack of drawing people in, wish I had it .

cornsilk · 20/02/2010 23:53

RL is a bugger aint it!
I forgot that you'd been drawn into the CVQ stuff - that must have been really horrible.

BlackLetterDay · 20/02/2010 23:55

I was bending dp's ear about dizzymare lol wondering when she would be outed (like he cares).

BlackLetterDay · 21/02/2010 00:00

I remember all the hoohaa with CVQ very sorry that you got burnt with that psychomum and hope your feeling better, have followed your health threads. I was actually telling my sister and niece (niece does dancing) about you and your girls getting on the telly.

that I know so much about you, and again for pretending to my sister that I actually know you lol.

psychomum5 · 21/02/2010 00:14

oh blackletter, you just made me madly, and also . Thankyou....

as for me, I am getting there slowly.....I just need to stop and rest and listen to people a tad more when they tell me to rest.

cornsilk, was horrid at the time, but gave me a lesson, so looking back, not sorry it happened. Sorry about how many got hurt tho, and how many people still get hurt by fuckwits such as them (am loving the fuckwits word).

cornsilk · 21/02/2010 00:15

fuckwit is a truly wonderful word

psychomum5 · 21/02/2010 00:17

I must reserve it just for here tho....

am just picturing the phonecall from school with the telling off because DS2 tells his teacher mummys fave new word that she can actually say without stuttering.....

cornsilk · 21/02/2010 10:07

lol psycho

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2010 10:15

o.K thanks; must be a bit difficult to know sometimes though?

Wanderingsheep · 21/02/2010 10:39

OMG was CVQ a troll?!? I remember her from when I was on MN the first time around.

Her story was so sad!

cornsilk · 21/02/2010 13:31

Yes she was a troll.

Wanderingsheep · 21/02/2010 14:04

Bloodyhell! People are sick!

cornsilk · 21/02/2010 14:04

Indeed

psychomum5 · 21/02/2010 14:23

sick is a tad light.

altho calling them insane is unfair to those who really do have mental insanity issues.

I can only think sociopathic is the word that fits best.

queenoftheslatterns · 21/02/2010 14:40

i agree its got to be some sort of pathological illness. its just so cruel.

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 21/02/2010 17:57

definitely don't like this assumption of mental illness.some people are just fuckwits who like mischief/malice/winding folk up.they are so inadequate or lacking that a lie seems preferable to a regular post.probably a social or situational inadequacy

as uncomfortable as it is to understand or try ponder why, lets not erroneously assume it is symptomatic of an illness

mental illness is demonised and misunderstood enough without it being blamed for trolling too

Mumcentreplus · 21/02/2010 18:09

I really agree scottish..these people dont have mental illness..they are nasty, thrill seeking to nick your word Fuckwits..they are pathetic..but I also believe they live and breath amoungst the MN community

NiceShoes · 21/02/2010 18:17

Mumcentreplus yes some nasty unkind fuckwits around on mn and in real life.

Sassybeast · 21/02/2010 18:20

Attention seeking, feelings of inadequacy, things far from perfect in real life, boredom etc. Some people just seem to get caught up in a fantasy life, a web of lies and just don't know when to stop. I suppose as long as someone doesn't cause harm to other users in terms of financial scamming etc then it's no big deal but trolls and liars tend to want SOME sort of kick out of their 'victims' though, be that by making people share their emotional traumas or watching people tear into each other OR to them as a result of contentious stuff that they've posted. There are some strange folk out there but I know that they can damage to others - I've seen this happen on another forum with a load of malicious and false allegations about another poster. That's why I don't always buy the 'it's just words on a screen' justification when someone posts completely made up stuff. It's like a woman saying that her husband beat her up, only to later retract it. Am sure the husband would consider it more than 'words on a screen'

StrictlyKatty · 21/02/2010 20:36

I find the whole troll thing insane. I just don't see the point of getting attention for things you've made up in your head!

I also think people like DM who pray on people's worst nightmares to gain attention/sympathy for things which didn't even happen are sick. Pure and simple.
