Hardly even post here and really shouldnt be watching This Morning but isntthere something really uuugh about renewing wedding vows - the wedding dresses not a good look on middle age women (and I speak as one myself)

Whats wrong with just celebrating significant anniversaries?

My DH asked me aboutthis recently
We are 21 years married this year and I think he was thinking of doing something for our 25th

TBH I think anything can seem naff if people do it for dodgy reasons. I sat on a beach in St Lucia last year and watched a trail of conveyor belt receptions on a "romantic beach". It was actually a small bit of sand with a bandstand which had a soundtrack of endless 'everything I do I do it for you' on a loop while nearby bathers pulled their costumes out of their arses and drank cheap cocktail getting pissed before lunchtime.
Or just look at Hello type weddings - or weddings that are all aboutthe photos and the outfits and not the marriage.

I have a relative who has argued with her DH for the last 3 years and is currently choosing her eternity ring.

Naff is what you make it.

I think it would be nice. I would like just us and the children to go to the Island where we had our honeymoon and have a short ceremony. I would wear a pretty dress but something that suits me - not bridal!

I think it would be nice to tell each other that after all that we have been through, given all that we know about ourselve and each other, that we would still both say I do in a heartbeat

We want to renew our vows at 10 years - in The Little Chapel in Vegas by Elvis because it is tacky (we already had the nice wedding)

YABU

I think we might do it - save up for a fab holiday and do it just the 2 of us - once the children have left home etc - assuming we are still together and want to!

It felt so special when we made our vows the first time, I'd love to do it again
