Weird story Shoshe - I was about 14 when a magazine published one of those perpetual calendars which tell you the day of the week for a particular date & 4th August was a Saturday. But my mum said, 'no that's wrong, you were born on a Friday.'

So we went looking for some old diaries of my grandad's, just to check if the calendar really was wrong - and in the 1956 one there it was 'August 3rd baby (Rusty) born' The 1957 diary was missing, but the 1958 one had my birthday as the 4th.

Then we found my birth certificate (we weren't the kind of family that had foreign holidays, which weren't so common in those days, and schools didn't ask for proof of age then, so we'd never had to look at it before) - and yes, it really was the 3rd....

Rusty, a friend of mine always thought her birthday was 30 June.

Till she applied for a passport, had to get her birth cert .... and found she was in fact born on 30 July.

She was part of a big family -- but how did they get her birthday wrong for 30 years?
