I want him to be my gay boyfriend. That lady just made me cry when she talked about her children

'someone who really finds women sexy, even though he's clearly gay. I know, it's odd!'

whys that odd.he just appreciates the female body.

i love gok.

cheesesarnie · 02/02/2010 21:50

forgot to say ds1 wants to be gok when hes older.he wants to be a stylist or a fashion designer and i think he'll be blardy good at it.hes only 8 so will probable want to do allsorts by the time hes older!

anyfucker not yet but theres still time!

I think this is the best of the 'makeover' type of show - and quite revolutionary for TV really. Usually women have had to lose TONS of weight, or have incredibly brutal surgery to be deemed worthy of a makeover. I noticed with the surgery/nikki hambleton-whatsername one, no one featured on that show was above a size 12 (imo) At least this programme is featuring women of all shapes and sizes and at least it's giving out a positive message - appreciate yourself how you are and use clothes/accessories to improve what you have

I think Gok is great! Obviously have hidden shallows of fag-hag-ness, me

pointydog · 03/02/2010 20:04

Much preferred Trinny and susannah. They did the same thing so don't see gok as revolutionary at all.

AuntieMaggie · 03/02/2010 20:13

I love him!

I watched last week when he worked with a lady who had recently lost a leg - was quite emotional.

During the show he did a naked photo shoot with people with different disabilities including BLOKES and I thought it was great to see him treat everyone the same and tell everyone they're gorgeous.

Don't we all have the right to be told that and feel gorgeous?

Pixel · 03/02/2010 20:16

All those women seem to give in to Gok's bullying charms and get their kit off but I know I just wouldn't. I wonder if they ever have to abandon a programme because the woman has got cold feet? (and everything else).

Some of them really are overweight and I wonder if he's doing them any favours health-wise in convincing them it doesn't matter, but I suppose increased self-esteem could result in them being able to lose a bit of weight (if the weight-gain was caused by depression iyswim?)

Anyway, want to know why I stopped watching it? Probably a stupid reason but I was so incensed by the fact that it was sponsored by Specsavers, yet every glasses-wearing woman went down that cat-walk without them. As a speccy-four-eyes myself I resent being told that it's ok to parade about naked if you are about 4 stone overweight, but you can't be glamorous if you wear glasses!

morningpaper · 03/02/2010 20:26

He seemed very nice in the flesh, not a wanker actually, I WARMED to him

pointydog · 03/02/2010 20:27

No, no one has the right to be told they are gorgeous.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 03/02/2010 20:33

Quite true - it always infuriates me when the first thing any spec-wearer is told to do is wear contacts (speaking as a speccie who can't wear the fekin things).
And I've noticed (at least with the first series, haven't seen this one) that the women they choose, while they do look hideous at the start with their baggy fleeces, no make up and hangdog expressions, are always naturally very pretty when you look at them closely.
So trowelling on make up and giving them flattering clothes (although I agree the clothes are usually pretty trashy) is always going to make them end up stunning.

The naked thing is a diferent matter entirely.
Some people (myself included) just don't look good naked to the cold scrutinizing eye - it's fine, the person who matters says I look good and I've had my time appreciating my own reflection (about 25 years ago now).
There's absolutely no reason other than viewing figures to insist on this 'naked' gimmick.

I'll never forget the episode where he went on a bra fitting mission and loads of the women in this big hall had their 'bangers' out. You could see even he was shocked - I actually felt a bit sorry for him - if ever proof was needed that everyone can't look good naked, it was there.

morningpaper · 03/02/2010 20:35

well he is not naturally drawn to Boobies is he?

I do find that gay men are better at "dressing" ladies though - they can see overall shapes and figures rather than just getting distracted by being allowed to look in the first place

pointydog · 03/02/2010 20:37

I think gok chooses cheap and slightly tacky plasticky clothes. Sometimes verging on drag clothes.

Trinny and susannah always picked flattering, better quality stuff

pointydog · 03/02/2010 20:37

mp, you;ve really upset me by saying 'boobies'

morningpaper · 03/02/2010 20:38

doh I've been hanging around small children

pointydog · 03/02/2010 20:40

hanging?

morningpaper · 03/02/2010 20:46

drooping?

Pixel · 03/02/2010 20:55

No one has mentioned this

sallyjaygorce · 03/02/2010 21:02

I have a photo of him licking my friend's face outside a club in Soho.

I always think I should feel it's exploitation but actually find the confidence the women seem to get very moving. I cry about it too sometimes - and agree I would much rather this than that weirdo blonde with the pointy face telling people they need plastic surgery, dental work and haircuts costing a few hundred quid. I think he does a good job in the most genuinely confidence-building one of this current trend of make-over shows.

When he says 'Get those bangers out!' it does make me gok though.
