Oh dear.

Please bear with me. I have hormone induced mental fog, of the worst kind, and have already had a postman stare at me for several seconds while I muttered things about my wardrobe, and shopping, and looking stupid because my trainers didn't match and he sort of went '..yeah'....'mmm'...'yeah..'

I explained I had been talking to a 2yo all morning but he had pretty much left the premises by then

ANYway here is the point. (is anyone still here?)
i had a lovely new coat arrive yesterday. It is very very lovely but was quite dear despite being in sale. It's lovely. And I felt guilty but finally decided to keep it, in the hope it would last me a few good years.
So, I took off the labels and undid the stitching on the pockets...only to snip the top stitch of the seam, and had therefore to fix that quickly with some cotton.
Job done, I put it on to go out, and found a HOLE inside the pocket

I couldn't have known it was there before as pockets stitched up...anyway, by this time I have already mended my snipped bit, etc. So I rang up the company and said 'look do you have any more please because I adore this coat' and they said 'er...no.'

I had the option to return it for a refund whichw as nice of them given the minor repair. But I love it and don't want to send it back.
I asked if they might reduce it further for me. But though she said she didn't think it would be a problem, I'd have to return it to the CS manager to inspect.

I asked her to promise me not to sell it to someone else by mistake, she said write a letter...so I have done, I have also attached tags back again with string, and written all over them my name and order number and DO NOT return to stock etc.

And then I sewed in one of ds's name tapes
I am ridiculously fond of this coat and due to the utter elbow bashing SCRUM the sale was last week, I know these things are like gold dust atm.

I am half hearted not to even SEND it (tho they are not TK Maxx obv )because I am scared I might not get it abck, and on the letter I have written that I will STILL have it back please even if they can't discount it any more.

My question is this: they are going to think I am really, really very mad indeed, aren;t they?

please tell me what I OUGHT to do. Should I stitch the pocket and just suck up the ££? Or is it worth the risk to send it back and maybe get, well, a tenner off?
Help.

flight have you seen this ...

MmeLindt · 02/02/2010 17:24

Name and shame the company that sold you an expensive coat with a hole in the pocket.

That will make them regret being so fussy about having to see the hole in the pocket.

And have a big glass of wine and some chocolate.

Flightattendant · 02/02/2010 17:27

here

but it was slightly different ie without belt, and without pocket flaps, and green.

Oooh tis lovely. My mum had one a bit like it when I was small, before she gave up and started wearing tracksuit bottoms

I've always wanted one.

CirrhosisByTheSea · 02/02/2010 17:56

Quattrocento · 02/02/2010 18:10

Slightly mad thread

BelleDameSansMerci · 02/02/2010 18:19

Oh lovely, lovely FlightAttendant, just mend your perfect coat and keep it with you.

Stop worrying about the money (I think you feel guilty about spending money on yourself which is nuts!). You have to keep warm and look smart or your child will bear the shame for ever after!! Mine, however, is used to me looking like a bag lady and talking nonsense.

Just mend it.

BelleDameSansMerci · 02/02/2010 18:20

And, money spent on a coat is an investment. Honestly, it is...

Lotkinsgonecurly · 02/02/2010 19:03

Very mad thread. Love to get so mad over a coat. Stitch the pocket and just be happy with it. Or sell on ebay for double the price!

Have a glass of wine too.
