Hold on a minute, I need to go water my poinsetta, then I'll be back to let you laugh at me a bit more....[tee hee]

LetThereBeRock · 30/01/2010 23:48

I'm enquiring as to your culinary and clothing preferences during your stay in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, which begins tomorrow I believe.

LetThereBeRock · 30/01/2010 23:48

I can see this is going to be a long term stay.

jasper · 30/01/2010 23:49

right.
Outside.

Bleatblurt · 30/01/2010 23:50

Lmao, are you 'sending the boys round'?

My DH is wondering why I am falling about laughing.

expatinscotland · 30/01/2010 23:51

I'm foreign. My husband and children are Scots, though. And tbh, I never even noticed how they say 'definitely'.

Not that I probably would have cared had I noticed.

LetThereBeRock · 30/01/2010 23:51

And perhaps one involving the removal of a large potted plant from a rather tender area.

giraffesCantCeilidhDance · 30/01/2010 23:53

song all together now -

Oh I was born in Glasgow, near the centre of the town,
I wouldd take you there and show you, but they've pulled the building down.
And when I think about it, it always makes me frown,
They bulldozed it all to make a road.

[CHORUS]

And that great old place I miss so much has seen much better days,
And still we talk about it as we go our separate ways.
Oh, but Glasgow gave me more than it ever took away,
And prepared me for life on the road.

[REPEAT CHORUS]

My granny was a cleaner, my grandad drove a tram,
My father an engineer, made me all I am.
They have seen the city come and go, still they give a damn,
There's so much to learn along the road.

And Glasgow gave me more than it ever took away,
And prepared me for life on the road.

Bleatblurt · 30/01/2010 23:53

I've just tried to explain the poinsettia story to him but I'm laughing so hard that he can understand about one word in twelve!

pebbles79 · 30/01/2010 23:53

Given that most words are spoken phonetically, I think you'll find in alot of cases it's the Scots that are actually pronouncing the words correctly as it's much easier to say the phonics in that accent.

LetThereBeRock · 31/01/2010 00:05

I wouldn't dream of 'sending the boys around'. I'm a great believer in the concept of DIY.

LetThereBeRock · 31/01/2010 00:06

Perhaps you shouldn't explain it then as doing so may result in injury.

LetThereBeRock · 31/01/2010 00:08

I'm in a good mood now, having just had a rather delicious ice cream float so I'll forgive you this time.

LetThereBeRock · 31/01/2010 00:09

And Giraffes's made me rather weepy.

Bleatblurt · 31/01/2010 00:15

Maybe next time we could laugh at the English instead of each other?

LetThereBeRock · 31/01/2010 00:16

Hmmm well my dp is English but then that's all the more reason to do so. It's a date.

gaelicsheep · 31/01/2010 00:17
LetThereBeRock · 31/01/2010 00:21
