Ahem, Edam...I had no idea of the word TSC was using until your post of 11:57. That was probably the intention of having your earlier post deleted.

I am astounded that anyone is stupid enough to really believe that England is "the only country where we have homeless without shelter...blah, blah, blah". I mean, really?? Do these people not read newspapers or magazines other than Now! or TV Quick or whatever? Do they not watch the news when there's yet another report from a fucked up war-torn country?

At each budget, the UK government will set aside funds for international aid - to help in disasters such as Haiti. Glastonbury Goddess, the projects you speak of would never have seen a penny of that £50m.

I am bloody pleased if our g'ment has actually given £50m in aid rather than the paltry £6m they originally pledged.

It's the first time I've EVER had a post deleted in six years on MN. Suppose I should be gratified. But I've been involved in a few punch ups heated debates, it's odd to be deleted for objecting to a discriminatory word.

Think we cross-posted, Rinder, but my point is people who use that word without thinking aren't going to realise why it is wrong if no-one is allowed to tell them which word we are talking about.

I mean, if I posted 'would everyone please stop saying , it's insulting to people with SN', that wouldn't help anyone, would it?

Absolutely agree with you Edam. And I think that TSC was very quick to apologise and recognise the offense caused.

I didn't ask for yours to be deleted either edam! I hadn't actually noticed you'd referenced the word - thought it was just me and 2nd that had mentioned it - so I did ask for mine to be deleted - just so it was kind of "clean sheet" (not realising you'd written it as well ) to continue dicussion of the OP today (and because 2nd was obviously feeling a bit shite about having used the word)

Oh, should have said I'm not dissing TSC at all, she's taken the point about word. Admitting you've made a mistake is A Good Thing - God knows, I make enough myself.

I've deledted a couple of people who have posted this as their status, it made me feel quite grubby that I knew people who think like this.
I wish there was a reply that could be posted as a status, something along the lines of 'Shame on you, UK Government, for only giving the equivalent of less than a pound per person in this country', but I'm not eloquent enough to come up with anything.

I'm really shocked at the number of people on my friends list who have posted this. I'd say about 1/4 of the regular users of facebook. I didn't realise that they think like that. I need new friends.

I just checked and NONE of my facebook friends have this as their status - they are all talking about knitting, biscuits, Calpol, going to Basingstoke and having pizza for tea....
