OK so if expressos are bad, how about prostrate problems and not being pacific enough?!!

I hate 'sat' instead of 'sitting' - though I've heard this one so often recently from apparently reliable sources (official emails at work, BBC news reporters) that I'm wondering if I'm wrong and it's a valid alternative usage?

e.g. "I was sat at my desk this morning" instead of "I was sitting at my desk" - the first just sounds awful to me, and surely it changes the meaning, implying that you were placed there by someone else? I always want to ask 'by whom?' when someone says it, though they'd probably have no idea what I was talking about Confused

Go on purple, be brave. The record will show that you took the blows and did it your
way.

I like to remind my bull stud customers that I am not checking the penises!!!, but in fact the plural is peni. Even though the spell checker on here thinks otherwise did it not study Latin.

I seen and I done

People say this all the time round my way and it's like nails down the blackboard for my sensitive and pedantic ears.

Other pet hates:

  • Oh I'm sorry, that was my bad.
No it wasn't you total wanker, it was your mistake.
  • I'm going to the libary.
Don't you mean library?

Don't get me started on apostrophes.

Cuttelry instead of cutlery, bumfire instead of bonfire, chimbley instead of chimney, ration of bacon..

My local M&S has an "expresso bar". I had to look at the sign several times to make sure and yes, it definitely says "expresso".

Speaking of which "definately" is seen so much it is starting to look correct Shock

"my baby is jaundice" - no it's not, it's jaundiced.
