We are having a baby, we have a baby - but WE ARE PREGNANT. OMG It makes me want to curl my toes in embarrassment. Its bad enough when the mother says it but when the man as well !!! Of course men share in the ups and downs of pregnancy and support and care for their partners, but never, never are they pregnant too!!

when I found out I was pg - that was just it. Not 'we' but 'myself'. DH also agrees he hates the 'we' this and 'we' that.

Madascheese · 14/01/2010 21:05

Otter and Jacksmama

He did - he actually (along with his fruitbox Mother) told me not to mention to anyone I'd had a c-sec as 'everybody' considered it to be a failure and 'not a proper way of doing things'.

This was in the hospital, when I'd been out of the recovery room for about 10 minutes.

Sorry - don't mean to hijack with my exh rant!

poshsinglemum · 14/01/2010 21:10

YANBU- I hate it too.

Madascheese · 14/01/2010 21:15

Paulosmum

I just had a wine/screen interface...

WE are breastfeeding? Bitty?

TigerDrivesAgain · 14/01/2010 21:19

Oh I was thinking about this the other day, one of those new man types at work said something like "oh, yes, that must have been when we were pregnant with Trixiepops". I nearly lamped him one. AAARRGH. YANBU.

kinnies · 14/01/2010 21:20

No wonder you are 'MadasCheese'!
I'm angry as lemmons on your behalf

Jacksmama · 14/01/2010 21:20

Madas - WTF????????? Ermm I think it might have been fairly obvious that you had a section - CUE THE LARGE INCISION IN YOUR TUMMY!!!

What a fuckwit. Oh, I'd like to hunt him down and do a Jack Bauer on him.

"WE" are breastfeeding??? What... WTF doesn't begin to cover that one...

Some people are insane.

Jacksmama · 14/01/2010 21:22

If we were ever to decide to have another baby, all I can say is, "if WE are pregnant, YOU are having the fucking amniocentesis!!"

Jesus bleeding Christ in a horse-drawn applecart.

kinnies · 14/01/2010 21:24

LOL! @ Jackmama

Jacksmama · 14/01/2010 21:24

Sorry. I get a bit worked up.

kinnies · 14/01/2010 21:29

No you carry on dear.
Tis good to vent

Have filed your Christ on an applecart for a later date!

Madascheese · 14/01/2010 21:30

arf at Jacksmama!

Madascheese is meant in the frivolous sense rather than the cross sense.

Loving the idea of doing a Jack Bauer though....I have to say most of my RL friends are in a big fat queue for that.

I'm actually very proud of my lovely scar because it represents my delightful DS who makes me giggle every single day

dinkystinky · 14/01/2010 21:35

We are having a baby is fine - and shows the two parents think of themselves as a unit. We are pregnant is abit weird frankly - and shows that the two parents think of themselves as one huge-arsed amorphous blob with morning sickness, rampaging hormones and swollen ankles

Poledra · 14/01/2010 21:40

Madascheese, your H was a Class A fuckwit! I had the opposite - I was devastated by my emergency section, and felt I had failed. DH's attitude was you're fine, she's fine, how she got out is not an issue (which was in itself a bit of a problem, but not in the way yours was).

Fibilou · 14/01/2010 21:51

Mega barf imho

Jacksmama · 14/01/2010 21:54

Jack Bauer would probably have killed your ex with surgical thread wrapped extremely tightly around ex's willy.

MorrisZapp · 14/01/2010 22:32

YANBU

But I worked with a guy who announced his impending fatherhood by sending an all staff email saying 'I have impregnated my wife'.

I swear to god I couldn't eat my lunch after that one.

ooojimaflip · 14/01/2010 22:37

Well what is the man meant to say? "My DP is having a baby" makes it sound like it's nothing to do with him - which is at least as bad. "We are breastfeeding" is possibly more justifiable - if a man said it, I'd assume it wAs about a joint decision rather than the physical act.

Jacksmama · 14/01/2010 23:07

She did say "we are having a baby" is fine, only that "we are pregnant" is boakworthy.

MadamDeathStare - PMSL

I am now looking for the "Am I being unreasonable to think that a rabid concrete squirrel is not an appropriate Christmas present" thread

To the OP- YANBU, it is nauseating and said by couples have lost the power of independent thought.

Threepwood · 15/01/2010 05:41

YAdefinitelyNBU!!!

Hideous phrase!
