On tonights news two more people have dies trying to save dogs Every time we get a bit of cold weather and Ice we hear these tragic stories of people dying after falling through the ice trying to save a dog.

I like dogs as much as the next person but a dog is replaceable.

So sad for the families,

Those two win the award for being stupid, I really hope they have to pay £££££££££££££££ and their insurance firm refuses to pay out.

My DP walked across ice on Boxing Day 09 to rescue our 1 year old Hungarian Viszla (DS's dog) who'd fallen in large duck/fishing pond. DP went down to his pants in case fell in (water 10-14ft deep in middle) and sure enough he did. Slung the dog to the side then smashed through ice using his bare body (fortunately where he was, water just up to his shoulders)Managed to get to side, took his wet pants off (what a sight) and put his clothes back on.

Came home and told me what had happened. He was covered in cuts/bruises and took a hot bath as soon as got home. I think he's a crazy fool who could have died. I would not have done the same; I hope I would have tried another method of rescuing the dog (I would have tried though!) Dogs are just dogs but they do become a member of your family when they live with you.

Terribly sad when best intentions end up in tragedy and condolences to the families of those who were not so lucky.

PS This was a private pond or maybe he could have been arrested for exposing himself!!
