to wonder why the word Lesbian on the front cover of Lesbian Vampire Killers was blanked out with a parent advisory sticker?

DVD rack in Sainsbos.

Parent advisory sticker covers the word Lesbian - can't remember the exact wording on it but it says something along the line that is is obscured because of inappropriate references or something.

So the word Lesbian is viewed as something intrinsically inappropriate but the words Vampire and Killer are OK for young eyes, then.

I find this offensive - as someone who has 2 gay women in the family one of which is my mum, and a daughter who was badly bullied last year, in the main being called a lesbian slut by a group of girls at school, I think it's startling that this word is viewed as offensive.

INAPPROPRIATE REFERENCES????!!!

TrillianAstra · 09/01/2010 23:51

Just as long as it's not killers of vampiric lesbians. Equal rights for lesbian vampires I ssay!

edam · 10/01/2010 00:16

(I think it might be killers of vampiric lesbians going by the cover, not sure either Horne or Cordon qualify as lesbians )

It is killers of lesbian vampires, sadly.

James Corden. I would.

"Not to say that Sainsbos is the same as Asda (and to reassure you I am pretty sure Waitrose don't sell them)"

sorry to disappoint you but they do

Have just watched the trailer- I genuinely didn't know if it was lesbians who were vampires that killed people, or lesbian vampires who killed other people. Or lesbians who killed vampires.

The existence of this film irritates me. I'm not sure why. I am not convinced that the lesbian vampires will be how I imagine them to be.

TrillianAstra · 10/01/2010 01:14

Your lesbian friends seriously went to see it Lenin? Even from just the title I can tell it was made by men, for men (the men who like to see girls in Nuts doing reciprocal hand-bras). No real lesbians were consulted in the making of this feature.

Mermaidspam · 10/01/2010 01:19

My (lesbian) best mate won't say the word lesbian in front of her dd (who is 8).

Her partner has lived with them for 4 years and they kiss, cuddle, do everything any other couple would do in front of the dd.

She treats it like a swearword - bizarre.

JustAnotherManicMummy · 10/01/2010 02:00

Goingonce I also worry... that one day DS will ask "Mummy what's a bigot" and I'll have to explain about people like you

Heracles · 10/01/2010 02:12

Zombie Strippers is a good film though, whereas Lesbian Vampire Killers is rubbish. It should certainly have a warning sticker on the front, just for very different reasons.
