to think that Alan Rickman is a NORMAL crush

Loads of people fancy Alan Rickman, don't they? Was talking about celebrity crushes with some friends, mentioned AR and they all went 'Err, no! He's weird.' I pointed out that lots of people fancied him, and they all said that wasn't true, I was mad etc.

AIBU?

YA(most certainly)NBU

I insist that you immediately disconnect yourself from these so called friends. They are obviously very twisted and completely bonkers

Can't see him being gay really - I mean why the hell wouldn't he have just been gay - it's not like he's in a profession where being gay has been a dreadful crime for a while is it? He's not a rugby player he's an actor!!

And by god I do fancy him - I can even manage rude thoughts about him when he's Snape.

signs - and takes a moment to herself

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 04/01/2010 10:31

totally normal. He is getting on a wee bit for a crush but still gorgeous. Snape yummmmm sheriff of nottingham double yummmmmmmmmmmmmm (bit wrong tho that one, but all that black leather phwoar)

CarmenTinselPalmTreesSanDiego · 04/01/2010 10:42

Oh god, the In Demand video is wonderful.

BrahmsThirdRacket · 04/01/2010 11:09

He doesn't really look like he wants to hug her in that video...his expression is more that of someone who is on a train and the person next to them has fallen asleep and is dribbling on their shoulder..

Definitely YANBU.

Remember him as sheriff of nottingham years ago?

Didn't like him in Love Actually though. Although that may just have been the film in general.

caen · 04/01/2010 12:47

YANBU I have loved him forever.

Whoever drew my attention to the fact he might be gay if VVVVVVVU. Now I know how my sister felt when we broke the news about Ricky Martin.

loobylu3 · 04/01/2010 12:53

YANBU

BrahmsThirdRacket · 04/01/2010 13:23

Pretty sure he's not gay, and even if he is a bit I don't care.

I don't think it's a good idea to ask him on for a webchat. I feel it would turn to filth quite quickly.

But here's an idea - Alan Rickman for PM! Doubt he'd be any worse than our choices for the next election and viewing figures for PMQs would go through the roof.

Sat in front of him at the theatre a few weeks ago. Strangely, he was with Andrew Marr! Looked a bit ropey tbh. Although he was a few rows behind so i couldn't hear his wonderful voice.

becklespeckle · 04/01/2010 13:41

YANBU!

(I knew I couldn't be the only one!)

hocuspontas · 04/01/2010 13:56

Doesn't he stink of fags?

I thought a MNer in the know said that.

Liked him best in Love Actually. Definitely not as Colonel Brandon - his hair was all wrong.

becklespeckle · 04/01/2010 13:59

He was FAB as the Sheriff of Nottingham Wishingchair! I love him best in Evil roles too (can't remember who said that further down the thread).

Oblomov · 04/01/2010 14:30

Op is right. I like him. But then i don't have 'standard' crushes. so guess that disproves that !!

nannynobnobs · 04/01/2010 15:33

First saw him as Sheriff of Nottingham when i was 11... Though Christian Slater stole my heart utterly for at least a year after that film, the seeds were set and I think why didn't Marian just go with the flow and have him instead of charmless Costner

Sassybeast · 04/01/2010 15:49

In Dogma 'drool'

I can't really drool over him in TMD because I am a bucket of snot within seconds of it starting

JaneiteIsTrite · 04/01/2010 17:14

I met him last year v briefly. He didn't smell. He smiled briefly. And his voice was divine.

BrahmsThirdRacket · 04/01/2010 17:15

Janeite, how did you restrain yourself from throwing yourself at him?

I bet he smells nice, of outdoorsyness and rain

OP posts:
JaneiteIsTrite · 04/01/2010 17:18

Oh I went all coy and twinkly and then walked away - and screamed and giggled stupidly! Twas not v sophisticated.

herladyshiplovesedward · 04/01/2010 17:24

alan rickman... sigh, swoon, sigh

especially dressed as severus snape

nannynobnobs · 04/01/2010 17:27

I completely forgot- a friend of mine (male, middle aged) was in London on business and sat getting pissed on pastis with him in a tiny bar! He mentioned he'd met somebody vaguely well known and his name was Alan something... Oh yes... Rickman. I nearly fell on the floor! Apparently he was very quiet but friendly.

HohohoBumperlicious · 04/01/2010 17:28

YANBU

and ROLF at Frasier's dad 'he's twinkly'!

My crushes are usually older men, I have a teeny crush on a work colleague, he wears chinos and shirts and is proper 'dad-like' but I think I love him! I blame it on not growing up with a father [freud emoticion]. My DH is 17 years old than me so it seems weird to fancy mere boys!

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 04/01/2010 17:45

He is Yum.

End.

BrahmsThirdRacket · 04/01/2010 17:52

Yes I have Electra complex probably, which explains the Alan Rickman crush (and Jeremy Irons, Jeremy Paxman and..um.. Gordon Brown). It's the way forward. I may actually have a chance with some of my crushes (if I ever met them) - lol at those who fancy Johnny Depp, the odds are not in your favour.
