To think that Marks & Spencers closing their dressing rooms is absurd

I was in Marks & Spencers yestaerday and saw a couple of really cute dresses so I took them to the dressing rooms to try them on. The dressing rooms were closed. The sales assisant then told me that they now close them during the sales. I explained to her that yesterday was a rare day when I didn't have my very young son screaming his head off and that returning it would be a hassle. She rudely refused me even though i'm a really good customer and shop their daily. I don't understand how this policy benefits their customers. I felt really angry. Am I being unreasonable?

I haven't read the whole thread so I'm sorry if this has been asked. But what the hell do you go there everyday for?? Doesn't it bore you to go to a particular shop every single day of your life?

paula would ds be happier in a sling instead of trolley?
ds2 also dislikes shopping but i can extend a trip if i use sling instead, they are usually happier at eye level and you can chat, cuddle etc

TBH I think the till excuse is a bit lame. I reckon our M&S has approximatley 15 tills but I'm sure they have more than 15 members of staff.

How about the ones keeping the store tidy nappyaddict? Or the ones restocking so that there is something there to buy? In a store that large you'll also have staff managing the tills/cash. Oh and the ones having their breaks. You'll also have staff on the shop floor to aid customers. Again, with a big store, you'll have staff managing different sections. And of course the stock room staff.

A store has more than just cashiers, and will not employ more than they absolutely have to.

During quieter times staff from tills, enquiries and tidying will all be involved in the changing rooms. When it is busy which area would you rather they cut back on?

This is the thing. When I went sales shopping and also in the busy days just before xmas I would be wondering around shops trying to find staff and wouldn't be able to find any. When I went to the sales it just looked like a massive jumble sale and I gave up trying to look for most stuff. I wouldn't mind if I could at least see that there was an increase in staff on the shop floor but if anything there seemed to be less.

haven't read the thread. Would annoy me too. I might still buy it, go to nearest toilet then try it on and return it if unsuitable - but I'd be more likely to shop elsewhere.
