I am very

When I was out for a walk today I counted the number of dog poos on my street after feeling like I am constantly dodging them.

I counted six within about 100 metres! I am out with the pram and with a walking DS1 all the time and the other day he stepped in poo, it makes me so and if I see an owner allow their dog to crap all over the street I will rub their nose all over it.

AIBU? I think not.

YANBU. It only takes a few selfish idiots to make all dog-owners look bad.

giraffespullthesleigh · 13/12/2009 23:40

I watched a woman let her little flea ridden scrawy mutt shit outside my door today I wanted to shout out the window at her but she looked a bit...scary.

I want a water pistol full of dog piss that I can squirt at her next time - AIBU?

SkivingViking · 13/12/2009 23:50

Scary - I was having this very rant earlier on as dd had stepped in dog poo for the zillionth time since we moved here at the end of September.

What's even worse where we live is that the pavements are also covered in dead leaves which cunningly disguise all the hidden shit until it's too late.

I wish I had a Back to the Future style hoverboard.

YANBU

The turning to our house is off a bridlepath which is regularly adorned not only with dog poos (it's in the countryside, so no need to bag it up ), but with enormous horse plops - which DP has managed to wheel our wheelie bin through. Mmm. And if Fantastic Mr Fox could bag up his not very Fragrant Fox Drops, that'd be great too.

It's a good job it rains so much here.

displayuntiltwelfthnight · 13/12/2009 23:59

I heard Liza Tarbuck talking about this in a hilarious discussion on her radio show a few weeks ago and saying how she'd heard about people who spray paint a big circle round it to draw attention to it and someone else who put little flags by it to mark it when their dog fouled so they could clear it up!
I laughed out loud when she talked about how she thought sprinkling coloured hundreds and thousands might be a similar thing to do, but might look a bit dodgy to anyone observing
I contacted the local council about it in our area and was told that I had to find out where the dog lived . Not thinking that many dogs would willingly foul and run and tell me their address while they did it, I can only assume I am to attempt some sort of undercover sleuthing in the early hours when said dogs are let out to foul the pavements round the school?

YANBU at all, especially as it's often worse on the roads around schools for some reason.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 14/12/2009 00:05

It's utterly vile and there is no excuse for it. I assume it is left by the same type of people who park on double yellow lines and don't seem to notice that they are holding up the traffic.

DoingTheBestChristmasICan · 14/12/2009 07:57

DisplayUntilTwelthNight one of the dads from ds' school carries little flags round with him & he sticks one in each poo he comes across.

The flag says 'Its Not The Dogs Fault'

Meglet · 14/12/2009 08:25

Yanbu.

Its got really bad where I live in the last couple of years. Presumably something to do with the dodgy groups of lads with dodgy looking dogs.

Whenever I see dog poo on the pavement I note it on my phone and e-mail the council as soon as I get home. They always clear it up, I'm figuring that if I can annoy them constantly they might be a bit more pro-active and realise how many bad owners and illegal looking dogs there are in my area. The sensible owners always clear up, the dodgy ones don't .

In fact, I've just realised I can e-mail from my phone as I go .

Ladyanonymous · 14/12/2009 08:51

I trod in some yesterday, some arsehole had let their dog shit right outside my front gate and it wasn't until I saw the brown footprints all down my hall carpet that I realised. Spent the next half hour scrubbing my carpet and gagging felt like lying in wait for the bastard and following him/her home and smearing dog shit all over their door handle.

So pissed off!!

SantasKinkyKnickers0nMaHead · 14/12/2009 09:01

Someone has let their dog shit outside my house, horrible not quite solid poo too

I may go and do a big shit outside their front door later.

whifflegarden · 14/12/2009 17:41

Thanks TYV.

dinoroar · 15/12/2009 21:55

Today, I have again stepped in some right outside school. I was looking at the ground watching for it, but this pile had been so trodden down and smudged everywhere and had leaves around it. I reckon half the school trod in it. Filthy and disgusting.

wasabipeanut · 15/12/2009 22:02

YANBU - Whenever I have to negotiate dog shit smears with the buggy I just inwardly scream to myself "what the fuck is wrong with people?????"

The trouble is that the kind of dog owners who happily let their dogs shit everywhere without picking it up are the kind of people who will get aggressive with you if you challenge them.

I would be willling to bet that the owners of bull breed dogs are some of the worst offenders.

Poiparcel · 15/12/2009 22:30

My front lawn is daily decorated in fox poo, nice, but unless I'm going to be hiding in the bushes and leaping out at them, there's not too much I can do about this.

But the dog doo? I'd be happy if the locals could get their dogs to do it on the pavements near us! Because we're in a bit of a run-down part of town with lots of short term lets like students etc, there's not a lot of pride. What there is is a big strip of green, about twenty metres across, which stands as common ground between the odd and even sides of the street, this is in full view of all the houses and is a great place for all the local kids to play. And they do. Amongst all the doo.
As I say, I'd rather dodge it on the pavements.

2kidzandi · 15/12/2009 22:32

YANBU! YANBU! Whenever I step in it I always just want to leave my entire shoe behind! And don't talk about trainers; you NEVER get it all out. I once leaned back on the grass play area AND PUT MY HAND IN IT! I wanted to cleave it off - instead I soaked my hand in an entire bottle of Dettol!

Unclean dog owners ought to be made to spend the day cleaning the streets of the muck!

Washersaurus · 15/12/2009 22:51

I have my suspicions that the main culprits are older people (around here at least anyway). I have put a poster up outside my door before requesting that they be responsible and detailing my woes (dog mess at the bottom of the steps, big buggy wheeled straight into front room, 2 small children etc)

purpleduckUnderTheMistletoe · 15/12/2009 22:55

"how hard can it be to drag the dog into the gutter"

Very hard if you have a greyhound that focusses all her straining energy into squatting on that one spot. I have tried. And what do you do if the road is narrow and busy?

I'll tell you what is really disgusting - there was some human waste (99% certain) at our local nature reserve - I reckon its fishermen who are caught short - and my dog rolled in it.

UGH!!!!!! That was not fun to clean.

Mousey84 · 15/12/2009 23:24

About 15 years ago my mum took a picture of a guy who was letting his dog go at the end of our drive. He saw the flash, looked horrified and scarpered...and we never saw him again. I have taken pics with my phone too, but apparently council cant do anything unless a warden actually witnesses it happening.

I politely offered a nappy sack to a woman once, who was clearly not going to clean up and she punched me in the face. Nice, huh?
