To be annoyed at someone on the bf/bottle feeding forum saying that formula should only be available on prescription

That person obviously has found bf a complete and utter doddle and might not have encountered any problems with it. These comments do nothing to promote bf imo only reaffirm the stereotype of bf matrons. If formula were to only be available on prescription it would penalise those who are struggling to bf and need that extra to top up, or those who have made the choice not to bf though respecting their decision is a bit to me.

OP posts:

I think they are actually called patient hotels.
Not sure if women pay for this service tbh but I think its common to do stay at one and I think they are helpful in getting breastfeeding established.

AitchTwoToTangOh · 12/12/2009 22:52

and this is what's wrong with threads about threads. lilo, the OP of the other thread is in no way trying to make anyone feel bad. (personally i think that's often in the eye of the beholder).

the OP of this thread felt bad because she presumably wishes that she'd bf, and is lashing out at the OP of the other thread. imo.

scottishmummy · 12/12/2009 22:55

perhaps projective identification clouds interpretation of others motives

lilolilmanchester · 12/12/2009 22:55

aitch, I didn't read the other thread, just this one

AitchTwoToTangOh · 12/12/2009 22:55

in english, sm?

AitchTwoToTangOh · 12/12/2009 22:57

exactly, lilo, the other thread went tremendously wrong tremendously quickly, but according to the OP (as well as the way i read it at the time) she was really just cross at formula manufacturers ripping the piss out of women with their poxy immunofortis stuff.

Pannacotta · 12/12/2009 22:59

I do agree its poor form starting a thread about a thread, it does smack of playground bullying...
It would be good if we could take about baby feeding in a more easy going manner, but sadly it seems to have become wrapped up in bad feeling/guilt/feeling threatened etc etc...

scottishmummy · 12/12/2009 23:00

LOL,aye deeply held personal unresolved issues projected onto someone else

AitchTwoToTangOh · 12/12/2009 23:02

is this you being insulting again, sm? why? what's the point?

Skegness · 12/12/2009 23:02

Everyone does realise they'd continue to ripping the piss with their poxy immunofortis stuff but transfer their marketing to doctors and health workers? Who would be no less influenced by their goobledigook, probably. That's why drug reps have thriving careers.

InMyLittleHead · 12/12/2009 23:04

Exactly, Skegness

scottishmummy · 12/12/2009 23:05

clearly you misunderstand and personalise too much

everyone unconsciously uses projective identification as a defence mechanism we don't know we do it but we all do it

AitchTwoToTangOh · 12/12/2009 23:05

no, i think in the perfect world etc the govt would be manufacturing the formula.

AitchTwoToTangOh · 12/12/2009 23:06

god, sorry, clearly i have misunderstood. i do find you difficult to understand, sm. could you explain what you meant, please?

RubyBuckleberry · 12/12/2009 23:06

piglet you twat hahahahaha i've just found this. i cannot believe you actually started a thread about the one I started. much better way to get the article out there, if anyone is reading it, than my admittedly lame title. hahahaha classic. its MUCH more popular too! i'm only half way through it too...

scottishmummy · 12/12/2009 23:08

rubyrubyruby are you from another thread?was this some grudge thang

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 12/12/2009 23:09

I know I keep harping on about it, but I do think that a lot of the guilt surrounding ff-ing is do with the "breast is best" message. It's rammed down our throats from the earliest stage in pregnancy. And it's incorrect anyway because breast is not best, and I think women who breastfed and whose dc still had eczema, or whatever, like my ds does, feel quite cheated by it. Because bm is made out to be the magic elixir of joy which will make your dc super healthy and intelligent. So when people come on and say "I was ff/my dc were ff and I/they are fine," it undermines the whole breast is best, and makes it look stupid - because if your kid's going going to get eczema, they'll get it regardless of if you bf or not!

InMyLittleHead · 12/12/2009 23:10

It's the OP from the other thread! Classic.

scottishmummy · 12/12/2009 23:11

how do you all keep track who said what to whom

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 12/12/2009 23:12

Oh, bloody hell.

RubyBuckleberry · 12/12/2009 23:27

OMG i've just finished it... Piglet you inadvertently got the debate going - and I missed it hahahaha gutted... no seriously, ummmm, so.... breast is best hahahahahaaa

scottishmummy · 12/12/2009 23:30

now you do sound unhinged ruby

thedollshouse · 12/12/2009 23:32

My thoughts exactly SM! I can't imagine a thread about feeding is hilarious enough to warrant so much laughter.

Its a bit creepy.

scottishmummy · 12/12/2009 23:37

ruby you sound like scooby doo villain.m'wah haa haa an all that

WilfSell · 12/12/2009 23:38
