to hate the term 'kids'...

I never call my children 'kids' and slightly cringe inwardly if someone refers to my children as 'kids'.

Don't really know why I hate it so much, I just do...

Anyone else with me on this one?

"Am also quite thrilled to hear that some others of you agree with me, really thought I was the only one"

You can't have been on MN long enough then. It's a regular OP, every couple of months someone says how they dislike "kids" and the mind-boggling confusion with baby goats comes up. Shall I predict what you'll "discover" next on MN, social-class-wise?

blimey, knuckles wrapped for not taking proper notes

that was my festive season spelling of rapped by the way

I use it all the time, but have generally tried to avoid using it on MN because of all the snobbery over it. Now I'm thinking, sod it, you don't like it, tough and I shall endeavour to use it as much as possible.

I dislike "kids" I like children . It sounds friendlier!?

SarfEasticated · 12/12/2009 18:10

I agree thirdisbest it's the "k" sound like kick... maybe we could start to use lamb instead? Sounds fluffier.

I wonder why 'kid' started anyway, it is a bit of leap of imagination from baby goat to child isn't it. must google...

SarfEasticated - it's not knuckles rapped for not taking notes, it's exasperation at yet another snobby thread about the use of ordinary words/activities/experiences etc.

I have only read the OP and I completely agree. Dreadful.

ApplesinmyPocket · 13/12/2009 10:21

I like it. To me it has the air of thin-legged little creatures skipping happily. Makes me smile.

Mshalfcut · 13/12/2009 10:27

I don't mind kids ..'the children' makes me cringe
