went clothes shopping with dh yesterday while the dc's where in school , dh spotted one of those jumper dresses that he thought would look nice on me , to me it looks like a Bridget Jones Xmas jumper type dress ,
i will describe if i can = it is a rusty red colour , sleeveless & has a teddy about a foot in size on the front & the same on the back , crochet on the top . we left the shop and for three hours solid dh kept nagging me to buy the dress as he though it would look nice on me , in the end tired & feet killing me i gave in & bought the bloody thing just to shut him up but i doubt if i will ever wear it . it was only £20 pound so not expensive .

Today, in TopShop, I saw jumper dresses with bunnies and the same with penguins.

What is going on?

ZacharyQuack · 03/12/2009 05:37

Wrap it up and give it to him for Xmas.

SofaQueen · 03/12/2009 06:33

Maybe the dress was originally designed for a very tall 5 year old?

skydancer1 you might actually have a point there , dh has been talking alot in the last few months about weather i would like to have another baby , we already have a ds & a dd & after dd was born we agreed that our family was complete , i have to have c-sections as cant have a normal birth . but i think he is getting broody . still no excuse for that dress

Aw! well maybe mystery of aesthetic disaster dress solved then! Wish you luck with deciding about DC 3 or not. Meanwhile, suggest you get DP a baby-sized teddy for xmas .

I could kind of see it working in an ironic sort of way on a very slim, young girl, perhaps in a Japanese/harajuku/Gwen Stefani sort of way.

I don't see it working well on the average white, British mum.

Can see why Miss Sixty were selling it off cheap! They're usually nice!

PurpleEglu · 03/12/2009 10:14

Oh that is bad!

MayorNaze · 03/12/2009 11:02

my dd would look good in it!

she is 3 btw.

you know you can never ever wear this out as mners everywhere will spot you. it will be on a par with finding a shopping list ith nice ham written on it. listen out for people muttering "fanjo" or "frootshoot" under their breath at you...

Chrysanthemum5 · 03/12/2009 11:31

Actually, it is not quite as awful as I had imagined - but it is still bad!

nickelbabe · 03/12/2009 11:53

it's not as bad as i thought it would be!
the patter nof the dress is really quite pretty.
could you perhaps put a jumpr round your waist or some kind of hip scarf to cover up the bear?

biggirlsdontcry · 03/12/2009 11:55

OK THE DRESS HAS BEEN RETURNED
bought something gorgeous instead .

Brilliant thread...i think your Dh sounds brill...never a dull moment i would guess! Don't take him into primark, my neice says they have fleecy all-in-one babygro type jammies with monkeys on them!!

biggirlsdontcry · 03/12/2009 12:44

thanks penny
oh & thanks for the tip off re primark
ah bless him i made him wait outside the shop with all the bags of shopping whilst i changed the dress , he is barred from clothes shopping with me now
he thinks the top i got instead of the dress is boring so that can only be a good thing .

Hahahahaha I finally got to see the dress thanks biggirls for a great laugh. I had a vision of the teddy stretching and getting bigger and bigger during pregnancy.
