to be raging about a woman on the bus home?

i was on the bus home this evening with my ds 12months old, and this idiot with 2 children in tow gets on the bus, you could hear her before she even got on the bus shouting at a polish woman saying "who do you think your f&ckin pushin ya polish c*t, you come here take our jobs" bla bla bla. she sat beside me (to my horror) and continued shouting as her mother refused to stay on the bus because of her behaviour.

after the 2nd bout of swearing i said "could you stop swearing and shouting theres no need!" this woman smelled like she fell into a bottle of vodka!!

the whole way home i was getting called a posh c*t, and who did i think i was.. a few woman behind me stood up for me and told her to be quiet she was embarassing herself and her children, then she said to me look at you kissin your ugly c*t of a wean (live in scotland!)i completely lost it, told her she was a disgrace and being a parent was a privilge not a right and that i felt sorry for her 2 kids as she was their parent. told her people like her should be sterilised!!

was i right or was i BU??

Good for you! I witnessed a very similar incident in SE London a few months ago. It wasn't directed at me but I wasn't brave enough to intervene. You were well within your rights to stand up to her. You probably said what everybody else was thinking.

BitOfFun · 29/11/2009 19:49

YABU to be raging- there are twats in all walks of life, and they aren't worth expending any more energy on. You did what you did at the time, but put it out of your mind now- not worth raising your blood pressure over.

skidoodle · 29/11/2009 19:50

I'm not surprised you lost your rag, but I think you were BU to say those things to her in front of her children (who presumably were old enough to understand) and also to think that there was any point in taking on an abusive, xenophobic drunk, particularly when you had a toddler in your care.

Probably the best thing to have done would have been to move seats as soon as she plonked next to you. That would have made your point and got you and your child out of harm's way.

mummysgoingmad · 29/11/2009 19:52

Its the comment about my son thats got me really angry, i swear i could of lamped her! but that would make me as bad as her, i think the sterilisation cooment done the trick! or it made me feel better

YANBU

I live in Scotland too and this language is depressingly almost normal. Depending on what mood I was in I might have said something. However, these sort of arseholes are the same kind of people that carry knives.

scottishmummy · 29/11/2009 20:02

well up to a point!but you shouting like a radge too doesnt make her less of one. she sounds like a total bamopot

the sterilised comment, sorry that's taking it too far

mummysgoingmad · 29/11/2009 20:07

i wasnt shouting i had my wee 1 on my lap as it was 1 of the old buses and needed to fold my buggy, plus she was sitting beside me so didnt need to. i dont think the sterilisation comment was takin it too far she called my ds an ugly c**t!

YANBU good on you, someone has to tell her, i think that you were quite mild really. Dragged up not brought up

scottishmummy · 29/11/2009 20:13

sometimes you just think oh gie me peace.she was a potty mouth thats for sure.

i'm a magnet for munters they always gravitate and talk to me

TheCrackFox · 29/11/2009 20:15

I always attract the non-washers on buses.

scottishmummy · 29/11/2009 20:17

some passengers on glasgow buses look like inhabitants from Dr Moreau island

bibbitybobbityhat · 29/11/2009 20:19

She sounds like she had serious mental health issues and I doubt anything you said has made a blind bit of notice. Her poor little kids .

TheCrackFox · 29/11/2009 20:21

You should try living in Leith - I have a "no eye contact" policy on buses.

mummysgoingmad · 29/11/2009 20:22

pmsl at scottishmummuys dr moreau comment, i know i felt sorry for the kids too, god knows wht there going home to

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 29/11/2009 20:23

sorry no way, cant wildly guess this as mental illness.

not every offensive behaviour is result of mental illness. nor should it be assumed to be

the clue is in "woman smelled like she fell into a bottle of vodka!!"

KimiTheThreadSlayer · 29/11/2009 20:23

Shame we can't cull people like her really.
YANBU, her poor kids have no chance in life at all
