I have a 'thing' about noisy eating. It makes me want to kill the perpetrator and puke.

H knows this but he has had a couple of beers and appears to have forgotten.

i have not had a good day. I am in a mood. I think i am going to have to kill him.

oh my, i thought it was only me and my (crazy) aunt who had this, thank G for mumsnet!

Weirdly I actually prefer it when DH is eating crisps. At least I'm expecting a lot of noise then.

What I absolutely cannot handle is the washing-machine style swooshing and sloshing noises and the murdering-by-teeth of such innocent foodstuffs as blueberries.

And sometimes he makes this little moaning sound in his throat like he's 102 years old.

I swear he either never did this while we were dating or I was too bowled over by his general other loveliness because if I'd noticed it it would've been a deal-breaker. Honestly.

Hmph.

And don't get me started on my mother, who was the bane of our lives vis-a-vis adherence to table manners when we were growing up and now finds it perfectly acceptable to load her mouth with food then start a conversation.......

Oh kindred spirits!

Think I'll show dh this thread - after more than 20 years together he still doesn't get the table manners thing and will eat like a pig at a trough if he thinks he can get away with it.

And dd1 is a noisy eater too, but she has a mouth full of braces at the moment, so I'm cutting her some slack - still hate it when she thinks it's ok to stand right by me while eating something.

I keep telling both dds that people judge you by your table manners (at least I'm Ms McJudgey about it and it looks like so's everyone who's posted on here).

I hate noisy eating

I blame my mum she hates it too.
I can just about cope with strangers but my poor dh gets the brunt of it

the solution is putting on music while your eating

my worst food for dh is

corn on the cob really hate it!

Oh.... I'm not alone!!

I HATE this. Really hate it. I can't bear poor table manners (don't I sound a snob!) DH drives me bonkers - chews with his mouth open, talks with his mouth full.

I blame my Dad. He was obssessive over table manners and I know my DC is going to hate me for being the same in a couple of years.

It matters, though. There's nothing so off-putting!
