I have a 'thing' about noisy eating. It makes me want to kill the perpetrator and puke.

H knows this but he has had a couple of beers and appears to have forgotten.

i have not had a good day. I am in a mood. I think i am going to have to kill him.

YANB even slightly U - so relieved to have found some kindred spirits. Drives. Me. Completely. Insane.

Noodles and cereal are the very worst in this house. Or when I'm at my computer and he comes up and chews a banana in my ear. I physically cannot bear it and have to move.

MrsKitty · 29/11/2009 07:50

Urghh it's making me grit my teeth just reading about it!

DH's brother and Dad are revolting eaters - it's like pigs in a trough. Fortunately this particular attribute skipped DH (Unless there's been a few beers involved) or we would not be married to each other!

BelleDameSansMerci · 29/11/2009 07:59

Squeaking...

I hate, hate, hate noisy eaters. Why don't they know? Or do they just not care?

Also, hate it when people don't use cutlery properly or hold it incorrectly but that'll probably just be me!

SparkleandShine · 29/11/2009 08:08

I have an (elderly) friend with false teeth that clatter as they eat....and talk....

ZacharyQuack · 29/11/2009 09:07

DH has just rediscovered bubble gum FFS. Chomp Chomp Chomp, moist stretchy noises, blow, pop ARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH !!!

I have also woken him up at 3am after a night on the booze (his) hissing "For god's sake, could you just stop breathing"

MadameOvary · 29/11/2009 09:18

Earpluuuugs!

MamaLazarou · 29/11/2009 09:28

Could you not just ask him to please eat more quietly? It's a perfectly reasonable request, and is not punishable by a life sentence in prison.

bumpsoon · 29/11/2009 10:21

Oh thank the lord its not just me that feels this way .

GentleOtter · 29/11/2009 10:26

Noisy eating and nose noises at the same time...

ohnelly · 29/11/2009 10:34

Yes kill him now!! haha

Igglybuff · 29/11/2009 14:28

YANBU! oh I hate hate hate the sound of people eating. The slurping. The sound of food being moved around before that gumpk noise of being swallowed. The lip smacking, the sound of inner cheeks and the tongue sliding about. Oh it makes me so ANGRY.

comewhinewithme · 29/11/2009 14:34

My mum rings me up and tries to have a conversation with me while she is eating .

DP used to be disgusting but is better now he does know he can't eat crisps or apples near me.

nigelslaterfan · 29/11/2009 14:34

I hate it too, the desire to murder is understandable.

Soup can create Auditory Crimes of the highest order.

My mum eating cereal.... the clinketty clunketty of the spoon on teeth ARGHHHHHHHH!

And what about Radio Drama on Radio 4 when characters start eating? Or on tv cookery programmes when they go "Oh.... Thiff thmellth delithtith mmmmmmMMMMMm lavvvly"squelch slurpy slurp slurp, oh save me.

nigelslaterfan · 29/11/2009 14:38

if you hate noisy eaters, for pity's sake, don't watch this

squashimodo · 29/11/2009 15:04

God I absolutely hate having to listen to a noisy eater. Makes me feel physically sick. Someone at works eats at their desk and I have to go out the room while they have lunch.

QOD · 29/11/2009 19:24

why do parents allow children older than 2 or 3 to eat with their mouths open> on a side note... I remmeber the first time I heard my BIL eat cereal, I looked at him and laughed as I thought it was a joke. It wasnt.... my fil kind of sucks food off his fork, its like he cant quite move it close enough to his mouth!

BlueBumedFly · 29/11/2009 19:30

and as for crunchy apples.......

Numberfour · 29/11/2009 20:07

the clinking of spoon of teeth
the slurping of soup out of a spoon
the crunching of food that is not REMOTELY crunching
the sloshing of food around in the mouth

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHH HHHHHHHHHHHHH

licking crisps before eating them
scooping the foam off the top of a cappucino with a teaspoon

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

FishInMyHair · 29/11/2009 20:30

HeHeHe. I was sitting here whilst listening to dh eating an egg sandwich in a noisy way when I came across this thread.
Now he has stopped I feel completely calm again. I always want to say something but his mum used to criticise him about how he ate so I don't want to do the same. It does pee me off though. It is only things he really likes that he tends to snuffle and stuff.
It's why I love serving stew and things with veg, it slow him down.

EccentricaGallumbits · 29/11/2009 20:43

i lick crisps but only when alone.
