moron is a horrible colour, dahling

Mishy1234 · 28/11/2009 21:52

YABVU.

Why does/should it matter to you?

Maybe they're thinking about having more children in the near future, or maybe not. Either way, it's no business of yours.

pottycock · 28/11/2009 21:54

Handbags at dawn mishy!

Earthstar · 28/11/2009 21:55

These families should stick to 3 seaters or perhaps motorbike and side car.

AuraofDora · 28/11/2009 21:59

wind yer neck in mishy, its aibu, we can ask anything here..
..and why not? what scares you about debate?

scottishmummy · 28/11/2009 22:10

LOL what a delicious line -so obnoxious

what scares you about debate?
well, maam all dem priddy words and flashing letters.ah just had to see'em

Mishy1234 · 28/11/2009 22:10

Yes, it is AIBU AuraoDora and the nature of it is that people can be honest with their answers. The OP is asking for people for their opinion.

I stand by mine and still think the OP is BU.

What is there to debate? The OP has a problem with people making a choice to buy a certain car which suits their family/lifestyle. She is asking if she is BU and my answer is yes!

crankytwanky · 28/11/2009 22:14

Earthstar, my uncle transported his wife & 2 children in a sidecar!
(In the early eighties, before H&S.)

I do feel a bit of a tool with one small child in my new minibus-sized monstrosity, but I have one at school and one in the oven. Plus lazy Mother who won't can't drive.

golgi · 28/11/2009 22:16

My mum and dad have got a seven seater, often it's just them in it. But sometimes they also have my two children and their elderly parents too.

AuraofDora · 28/11/2009 23:34

mishy
honest with their questions and answers

i read it more as the op has problem with people making a choice to buy a certain car which appears to her they don't have a practical need for...
hence aibu hence debate ensues..

jasper · 28/11/2009 23:37

Yanbu!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 28/11/2009 23:40

At least it wasn't a 4x4.

Mishy1234 · 29/11/2009 06:32

Point taken AuraofDora, the OP can be interpreted differently.

Either way, I still think the OP is BU. Just because you see someone driving a people carrier with just one child in it, doesn't mean that they only have one child or that they don't need the extra space for other things.

NightShoe · 29/11/2009 07:58

Well, if you are taking an environmental perspective then surely it is less environmentally friendly to have a people carrier and 4 (for example) children who will each use up more current and future resources, than it is to have a people carrier and one child? Otherwise, what is your point?

curryfreak · 29/11/2009 18:09

YABU
It's certainly a lot less enviromentally friendly than having lots of kids!

curryfreak · 29/11/2009 18:14

Meant to say no less enviromentally friendly

than having lots of kids. Wine kicking in now.

BrokenArm · 29/11/2009 19:28

YANBU, altho' At least it wasn't a ruddy great big 4WD 7 seater for 1-2 DC just because they think it "looks" good -- which happens around here a lot (ie, no pets, no horsebox, no sports events every weekend, no off-road or country lane ever, no reason to drive it other than desire to be seen in a status-symbol vehicle).

VengefulKitty · 29/11/2009 19:53

I have a 4x4 and one DS! My mother has a 4x4 and it is just her. We live in the 'burbs. Both are 2000cc. Although (vain attempt at lessening the flaming) they are both intelligent 4x4 and are 2 wheel drive unless car deems 4WD is needed

But we both recently changed as my grandparents are getting rid of their car in Jan, so mother and I are acting as taxi's occasionally now, and permanently in Jan. We chose them so that it was easy for the over 80's to get in and out.
