I object to the price!

Lauriefairyonthetreeeatscake · 26/11/2009 13:49

why object?

tis a cuddly toy......

LoremIpsum · 26/11/2009 13:49

Why do you object? More information needed, really.

pigletmania · 26/11/2009 13:50

Whaaaaaaaat nearly £100 for a toy dog. My friend who is 37 has a Fureal dog and no she does not SN though she does work with people with LD.

BalloonSlayer · 26/11/2009 13:50

Did you see the line: "No real fur has been used to make Biscuit."

I should bloody well hope not! Can you imagine them skinning real dogs to make fake ones? (Actually I can...)

BalloonSlayer · 26/11/2009 13:51

I rather like the Fur real cat they have in our local toyshop.

Can't have a real one as DH allergic.

pigletmania · 26/11/2009 13:51

Its just extortionate for a toy dog, though you could give it to your lo if they want a puppy for Christmas certainly cheaper than a real one and would save a lot of heartbreak having to rehome it if you cannot cope with it.

Pineapplechunks · 26/11/2009 13:52

Why are you objecting to it?

My DD would love to have a dog. I would hate to have one therefore we won't ever have one. She is, however, getting one of these things for Christmas so she can pretend she has a real dog.

Whats the problem with that?

choosyfloosy · 26/11/2009 13:52

Urrgh in 3 dimensions.

Horrible anthropomorphic 'cute' dog. Horrible waste of resources. Horrible thought that people are really willing to spend £100 on that kind of crap. Ugly. Creepy. Vile.

Urrgh.

choosyfloosy · 26/11/2009 13:53

Sorry pinapplechunks

But I don't get it. What about a (real) hamster, or a rabbit, or a cat?

Pineapplechunks · 26/11/2009 13:54

Just to add not one that costs £100!!! Thats ridiculous. If thats what you object to then fair enough but really there's nothing else wrong with it....is there?

pigletmania · 26/11/2009 13:54

Pineapple yes I agree totally, I would rather get my dd one of these than a real puppy which after a few weeks the novelty might wear off and you have a neglected dog unless you were willing to look after it yourselves of course.

momijigari · 26/11/2009 13:55

Well I started a thread in products , to see if I could get opinions, and I was a bit bored.... so I started the aibu.

My family has decided to get this as a joint present for dd.

I really don't like it, and I am thinking it is a mistake.

YANBU.

It's over-indulgent, obscenely priced and represents the hideous depths of consumerism we're plumbing.

It's also scarey, not cute.

Pineapplechunks · 26/11/2009 13:56

We have cat.

DD wants a dog, so she can have one of these.

Spidermama · 26/11/2009 13:56

Oh I didnb't realist your family are buying it.

It's really sweet. So realistic. She'll love it.

ArizonaBarker · 26/11/2009 14:02

I think they're really creepy.

I expect they come alive at night.

momijigari · 26/11/2009 14:03

Thank you Spider!

DD will "love" it, but maybe for 15 minutes a week?

OP posts:
FabioTwitterCat · 26/11/2009 14:03

It looks like a twat.

nancy75 · 26/11/2009 14:05

for all those shocked at the price - it was £200 last xmas, so in fact it is a bargain!!

Spidermama · 26/11/2009 14:05

You will find it hard to get rid of when the time comes and it will come soon because this is a big eyesore.

momijigari · 26/11/2009 14:06

I think it has been purchased - my mother was worried it would sell out ha! I did say I would have to see in fur real (sorry) - and I would say if it is going back before dd gets it and is brainwashed by the thing.

OP posts:
seeker · 26/11/2009 14:06

I think that to give one of these to a child who badly wants a real pet is crass and insensitive in the extreme - sorry!

momijigari · 26/11/2009 14:10

Don't be sorry seeker, lay it on thick, keep on that thought in fact, I need all the arguments, dd was crying this week because we can't have a dog.

OP posts:
Sassybeast · 26/11/2009 14:10

Awwww - it looks a bit odd - not sure they've quite mastered the cute puppy face, but I think your DD will love it. and to whoever said 'why not a real hamster, cat etc' - real animals poop
