My sort-of SIL's DD's birthday is in December. She will be 14
I met with my sort-of SIL (hereby SOSIL) last night and asked if she had any ideas for her birthday and/or Christmas present.

The answer came back from SOSIL that if it isn't objectionble, she would like some money for her savings account (no problem with that - prudence is to be admired in a girl...)

Because she is saving up for A MULBERRY HANDBAG

14 years old, I ask you... I am tempted to give her my collection 2000 make up and remind her what being 14 should really be about

AIBU to think she shouldn't even know what a mulberry bag is, let alone be coveting one?

She sounds like a well switched on child.

Mulberry is a good brand... I have more Mulberry handbags than I can shake a stick at - many of them well over 10 years old, but all as good now.

I also have quite a lot of stuff from Cartier and am friends with the Aspreys so maybe I'm biased, but I think she sounds like she is on the right track, and not spoilt at all.

Sparechange, this is completely irrelevant to your question and forgive me for going off on a tangent slightly here, but my tiny mind can't quite compute the SIL twin thing! Surely in order to be your SIL's twin but not actually your SIL, she can't be your DHs sister, or else they would both be SILs... but then surely that must mean the twin is married to your brother, which means he's married to a 13-year-old! Am I missing something really obvious?! It's like one of those lateral thinking puzzle things!

Gaga - DH has a brother
The brother is married to SIL. SIL has a twin sister, who I've known as long as I've known SIL, and who comes to all family stuff with DH's brother etc
She is SOSIL
Does that make sense?
