to dress my baby son in a purple hoodie?

I bought a purple hoodie from the baby boy's section of vertbaudet in the sale for my 7 month old son.. Its aubergine colour not lilac, and very plain. Several mums at toddler group commented on it, one saying he looked very colourful, one asking if the top used to be his big sisters, and the other saying that he was in touch with his feminine side today. Am I being unreasonable to dress my son in purple? Should he be only be wearing sludge and nautical colours ?

Ooh, that sounds nice actually. DS wears mainly hand-me-downs or secondhand stuff which tends to be blue or, bizarrely, orange.

CuppaTea, Vertbaudet stuff is looovely. The french don't seem to be as inflexible about what boys should wear as we are.

YANBU, purple is not a colour that I would say is essentially girly. In fact at our school, the top is purple. It used to be purple for girls and grey or purple for boys but as purple was a favourite choice for the boys as well they have stopped selling the grey ones altogether.

I love the VertBaudet catalogue, it is one of the few places I think you can buy smart (logoless) clothes at still very much affordable prices.

Fuck it....let's just design our own range of boys' clothes in shit brown and sludge green. They'll all bear legends like "I'm working on my 1st ASBO", "Mummy's little carpet-bomber", "When I grow up I'm gonna beat my missus" and "Failing already".

I was recently out at a nearby town having a Mcdonalds bite to eat and there were several pupils from what I assume is the local school. They all had bright purple sweatshirts on. I thought it was a nice change
