To want perfect slippers?

nigelslaterfan · 15/11/2009 00:20

I mean where do you turn in your early 40s when you want to have comfortable feet but don't want to look like your Grandmother?
My last german pair gave me sore feet, they were like clogs!
But most of the available ones look like they are for Ancients.
Where do other people turn for happy comfortable cozy feet that are not ANCIENT.
thanks

This might sound odd but seeing as my slippers get a good wearing and are thrown in the washing machine regularly and cover several miles a week, I always buy mine from Sainsburys! Cost about a fiver for ballet pump style but they're more comfy than other styles in other shops and I shall be heading to Sainsburys next week for another pair as current ones now gone through at toes (had them for ages).
I covet Melyn Tregwynt slippers here but not having that kind of money in my slipper budget, I can only dream......

displayuntilbestbefore · 15/11/2009 00:27

...meant to say the patterned ones rather than the sheepskin gran ones!
They just look so C-O-S-Y!!!!

WuktersDarkLair · 15/11/2009 00:27

YABU NigelSlaterFan. Think of the Children.

You should wear flipflops with one band going accross the foot, and funky socks in a clashing colour underneath. Try Primark.

£34 for slippers?!

shockers · 15/11/2009 00:30

I've got some of those matted felt ones ( actually they were a present for my DD but they're too big for her and fit me perfectly). They are a lovely shade of turquiose with a leaf design on the front and they have a kind of elfin shape to them!
I've never been a fan of slippers in the past... they make my feet too hot, but these are lovely to wear.

displayuntilbestbefore · 15/11/2009 00:31

you at that - their dressing gowns are £229!!!!

Katymac · 15/11/2009 00:33

I want slippers that fit me - round the heel

So many are mules atm & I walk out of them

Plonker · 15/11/2009 00:34

Meh ...I might get two

ShinyAndNew · 15/11/2009 00:36

I got soem 'ugg boot' style ones from Center Parks last year. They are lush. they are machine washable and come with lavander fragranced, microwaveable inserts.

So when you come home of a night and your feet are cold and wet they are mmmmmmmmm.......................

SqueezyIsBackToBlack · 15/11/2009 00:40

M&S have some good, cosy UGG style ones just now that can be flung into the machine. £12 (or £15) if I remember correctly....

lovely slippers

I have got these in red. They are sooo comfy and warm and snuggly - plus they stay on your foot properly so you don't lose one on the way up or down the stairs.

I admit they are not the height of style, but neither are they fluffy moccasins!

I have had my pair for 4 years now and they are still in good condition despite having been worn daily for 8-9 months of every year, so although they are expensive they are good value IMO.

blithedance · 15/11/2009 01:10

I was going to suggest Nordika's too. By a massive stroke of luck my local market shoe-seconds-stall had some in lovely red suede. I don't want them ever to wear out.

Lidl have some felt slippers in the upcoming specials: here - or is that what you were trying to avoid?

JjandtheBean · 15/11/2009 01:14

i have the ones squeezy suggested theyre just slipper perfection imo! comfy cosy dont fall off when walking upstairs and have proper soles, but not to hard!

I have worn them to my mums once

Shiney that is a highly unreasonable statement!

How else do you keep your feet warm?

CheerfulYank · 15/11/2009 01:35

shinyandnew where on God's green earth did you get those? I frakking live for slippers!

Vallhala · 15/11/2009 01:38

Marks and Sparks Ugg style every time! They wash well, fit like a glove, are toasty warm and inexpensive.

And I don't care if slippers make me look old... I AM old (45)! Besides, my kitchen and bathrooms are stone tiled so I NEED slippers!

wildfig · 15/11/2009 08:51

I've just got a pair of these

foot heaven

They're not dirt cheap, but the price includes shipping from NZ and they'll last for a while. They remind me of Wombles. DH tried to shove his own feet inside, in manner of Ugly Sister, when he realised how cosy they were.

nigelslaterfan · 16/11/2009 11:24

Ahh I found them! these are the ones my US stepmother gets me sometimes, I just need to ask her but the prices oy veh!

Hmm, sorry. But there has not been one pair of slippers yet that has made me grab my credit card and order a pair.

Atm, I am wearing Crocs but I would like slippers that look both keep my feet warm and look good.
