to be annoyed that national express trains won't heat baby milk?

On a National Express train from york -London the other day and buffet car staff refused to heat the bottle of milk I had managed to keep fridge cool all day ready for the journey home. Produced a letter from managaement backing up their "health and safety" excuse. This might be slightly more believable if the changing table wasn't lacking a safety strap - not fun on a train hurtling along and rocking from side to side. Bloody H&S and bloody jobsworth staff who sympathised "I've got children too" but would rather my 3 month old screamed the place down or drank cold milk then give a me a pot of hot water (which I would have used there, not carried down the train). Can't help but assume it is profiteering so you buy a herbal tea or something to get the hot water.

Lol, no the manufacturers can say they don't market their product at formula feeding parents because it can ALSO be used by those who are breastfeeding.

ImSoNotTelling, I want to marry you. You're the only person on these two threads talking any bloody sense. The other responses disgust me.

Poor - did you mean scald?

Although your sign would be a good reminder at Tesco during a bad shopping experience!

Thanks eyeballs. I think i'd better call it a day soon, this is very bad for my blood pressure.

Just what is wrong with people though? I find it baffling and genuinely upsetting.

Ooooo, sorry about that! tee hee I just made myself laugh!!!!!!

clemette - I use bottles from mothercare which are sterilised in the microwave by themselves...so are they breaking the law?

I was on a 13 hour flight and the cabin staff refused to put the milk I had for my DD in the fridge, the best they could do is give me some ice!!

So I had to risk leaving it in the bag and hoping it would not go off before I needed to feed my DD. They did heat it up for me.

On the flight home they happily put the milk in a coolbox, but refused to heat it up. That is until they got fed up of DD screaming for milk (around 10mins of screaming until she was red in the face), then they heated it up.

This was with BA who pride themselves on being great for families, but the rules seem to change dependant on which cabin crew you speak to.

YABU. I used to work in a tea room and we weren't allowed to give out hot water to heat baby bottles with... people were welcome to stand by the counter and heat the bottle there, but there were regulations against taking it back to their table, and we weren't allowed to be involved with the heating of the bottle in any way. It was all about liability in the case of an accident or the bottle being too hot. Obviously this isn't feasible with a mobile buffet cart on a moving train! I don't see why someone should have to risk losing their job to break rules for your benefit.

FWIW, last time I went on a NXEC train, the woman next to me fell asleep and knocked her cup of hot tea all over me. It burnt me and covered me in tea stains. Glorious.

Virgin Trains filled my baby bottle full of boiling water, so I was able to take it back to my seat and warm DD's milk. This was a while ago though, and to be fair to her DD was fine with all temperatures of milk, including ice cold from the fridge.

I've always had good service when travelling with them, their luggage space though, is another story
