I can't understand why so many other people say "sorry, I can't do links" on posts. It's dead easy - I am really thick and I can do it.

Look .... it tells you how to do them in a big section on the right called Links.

Right, I want everybody who says they can't do links to have a practice right here, right now...And don't be coming on here saying you can't do links again. Got that?

Yup, no deleting, (unless perhaps on a phone) it's quite simple if you remember to leave a space after the copied and pasted bit to display your text.

Oooh now I am realising what you are wittering about - the fact that you can enclose the link with and without deleting the - I cant think why I thought that was necessary!

So linking is even easier than I thought!

Also, while we are on the subject - you have to do underlining, italics, bold and strikeouts around each individual word, not the whole phrase.

I don't find the fiddly - html is more fiddly, like on some forums/email you have to do Google to do a link - on MN that same link looks like this: [[ www.google.co.uk Google

oops!! I meant to say I don't find the square brackets fiddly.

But I don't have square brackets (sob), and can't do italics either on my rubbish crappy phone.
So I just don't link to things. Simples.

I put "sorry can't do links" on a thread I started the other day, I got flamed and I got a bit narky about it .
But I can do them now cos I practiced like the good girl that I am.

I would like to know how people do links to pictures without just linking to the site.

Most pics linked to are just that, but I only seem to be able to link to the page.

Any tips?

YANBU, they are easy and the instructions are very clear.

nightofthewalkingdead you need to do a google search for an image, in images, and then click on the image so you just get that on the page, then copy and paste the web address that is in the address bar when you are just viewing the image.

So, to try it out, find an image of a purple cow...

Yes or if you are on the page with the picture, right-click on the picture and click "Properties" then there will be a address somewhere on the box that comes up. Copy and paste that and use instead of the page address.

E.g. have a Halloween smilie

For some reason on my laptop when you type the [[ then paste the link it takes off one of the [ and if you dont notice it cocks up link. God knows why
