I was reading kids bedtime story.
He didn't want to. I didn't expect him to unpack, and he didn't.
and he's gone to bed and left socks on the floor AGAIN.

He says it's all about me and me trying to get out of doing the shop on a saturday, it only benefits me. so I should sort it out.

  1. We all eat the food - not just me, it benefits us all
  2. and what is so wrong with trying to drop a 2 hour shop with 2 kids on saturday afternoon.
  3. i only asked him to answer the door.

He sounds like a wanker. You aren't seriously putting up with this crap are you?

Why are you doing the shopping with the children on a Saturday afternoon? What the fuck is he doing with his weekend?

Is he like this about other issues or is this a one off?

skybright · 08/10/2009 23:53

He is being a complete tosser.

JustAnotherManicMummy · 08/10/2009 23:54

How old is this man?

If he is 3 years old or less then YABU.

If he is older than 3 then YANBU. And I blame his mother.

slowreadingprogress · 08/10/2009 23:58

oh, he sounds an attractive character, full of dynamism and charisma, and clearly making the most of the responsibilities of having a wife and family

Where does he live, in the 1950's?

My sympathies to you, but please don't put up with that any more!

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 08/10/2009 23:59

YANBU. He's an idle sod.

notimetoshop · 09/10/2009 00:00

And yet, he is lovely. I said 'I can't believe you are saying this. You are not like this.'
apparently that makes me passive aggressive!

my point was forget all the other stuff. just answer the door if I'm telling kids a story - does it matter who to?

colditz · 09/10/2009 00:01

My father wouldn't have treated my mother like this in 1985.

My GRANDFATHER wouldn't have treated my GRANDMOTHER like this (and as in the 1950's it was perfectly normally to get groceries delivered, he probably didn't treat her like this)

This isn't old fashioned, it's cuntish and selfish.

colditz · 09/10/2009 00:01

Clearly he's not lovely at all.

colditz · 09/10/2009 00:02

Is he always a cock or is he having on offish day?

TrinityHasAVampireRhino · 09/10/2009 00:03

someimtes people do things out of charachter

he may not be a complete twat

talk it out wiuth him op OR

let it go and cherish what is good

babyOcho · 09/10/2009 00:06

why didnt he want to answer the door?

if he really really really really didnt want to answer, why wasnt he putting the children to bed?

Alibooobaandthe40phantoms · 09/10/2009 00:11

Er, you are married to him why?

He didn't WANT to answer the door? What kind of reason is that?

notimetoshop · 09/10/2009 00:13

TinityHasAVampire..i think i will have to let it go, which is why I am venting here.

But babyocho - EXACTLY - what is so wrong with answering the door? if he hadn't looked out of the window and seen it was tesco, then he would have been fine.
It was because I asked them to come, and then I 'dumped' 'the problem' on him. (to reiterate: I put away the shopping and I wasn't just sitting watching tv next to him and told him to go. i was in the middle of stories.)

and socks, usually i pick them up. but today I have left them. I did step in though long ago, when I caught him asking DD to put them in laundry for him.....I don't think he realised the implications. I wouldn't have minded if he usually did it and she was helping.

I don't know what to say.

Except, I would have absolutely hit the roof if dh ever pulled a stunt like that.

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 09/10/2009 00:19

your profile says you don't have kids.

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 09/10/2009 00:23

pity party?

notimetoshop · 09/10/2009 00:24

i am not sure what or where my profile is, if you mean me? or do you mean virginia.

do people join mumsnet without kids? it is called mums net.

mind I am now revealing my passive aggressive nature .. and my absolutely lack of technological knowledge.

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 09/10/2009 00:26

just saying what your profile says:

notimetoshop
The basics
notimetoshop joined Mumsnet in 2008. She lives in London. She does not have children.

so, how many kids do you have?

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 09/10/2009 00:28

~shrug~

ninagleams · 09/10/2009 00:28

Tell him to do the supermarket shopping next week.

RobynLou · 09/10/2009 00:29

what a total idiot.

colditz · 09/10/2009 00:31

IMove - if you don't fill the profile in, it says you have no children.

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 09/10/2009 00:33

ok

notimetoshop · 09/10/2009 00:38

You know I have now calmed down. Thanks for general vote in not being unreasonable. I think ninagleams, maybe not so much asking him to do shopping (I want to eat), but perhaps gently pointing out that - the kids will have to spend the afternoon in tesco - or we could just get it delivered .... I think he genuinely doesn't realise how much there is.

I did try going at night, but that blooming self-service thing they switch on drives me mad.

hobbgoblin · 09/10/2009 00:39

he is still a twat
