... to wonder if I'm the only Conservative voter on mumsnet? Is there anyone else out there or should I just go and hide my head in shame?

The title says it all. I'm not a toff. I'm just a normal mum and PhD student. I don't earn much and no-one in my family went to univeristy, let alone Eton. I'm getting the impression I'm in a tiny minority, possibly N=1. I haven't dared post on any of the political threads because I lack time and courage to be a lone voice of dissent. Anyone else out there or should I just accept that I sniff don't belong?

Peachy I don't know you well enough to judge but I would suspect not from your posts in general
~Anyway it would only be my opinion

skihorse · 08/10/2009 19:59

Orm So it's OK for someone to say to me "One of us must be stupid and I know it's not me" - or "Tory voters are thick or posh or blah blah" - that's OK? Are you for real? If you want equality it goes both ways. Tit for tat.

FlightAttendant Apology accepted, but please don't be so rude and dismissive of people with personality disorders. I have received extensive treatment and am cured. Furthermore because the DSM IV dictates that you must fulfill 5 of the 9 criteria this means that many, many different versions fall under that "disorder". Alas, common knowledge believes these people to be "abusive nutters" - I've explained how my behaviour exhibited itself on mental health - no need to repeat here. But it doesn't help anybody to make such dismissive comments as "skihorse has a personality disorder - ergo she must be evil".

FlightAttendant · 08/10/2009 20:06

Thanks for being gracious, Ski.

I had no place to bring it onto the thread and it certainly was nOT part of my arguing that tory voters are whatever, it was to do with how you were coming acrss and you were taking a flaming which I didn't like to see if there might be an underlying reason iyswim

I too have had and still have MH issues so it isn't like I think you are a freak.

Hope we areOkish now. I'll never agree with you on the politics but honestly (for some unknown reason) thought I was doing you a favour. Sorry.

OnionRings · 08/10/2009 20:12

Dear OP, of course you are not the only Tory voter on Mumsnet! I have always voted Tory and imagine I always will. I am sure plenty of other Mners are the same. After all, there are plenty of people here who have only ever voted Labour, so why not the opposite?

Now I will glance through the thread and see how many times Conservative voters have been called snobs and toffs.

smee · 08/10/2009 20:21

ski, fwiw I read FA's post before it was deleted and took it that she was trying to be empathetic and explain possibly why the tone of your posts was so strong. Okay so that's not her place, and FA's apologised, but still I think she was actually rather well intentioned.

FlightAttendant · 08/10/2009 20:26

Thankyou Smee I appreciate it

haven't seen you in ages - have you been here?

smee · 08/10/2009 20:43

been here on and off FA. Sometimes when threads weeble on as this one has I wonder why I come at all .

OrmIrian · 08/10/2009 20:51

Yes ski I am 'for real" . I didn't say that no-one had been aggressive to you. But you really can't help yourself can you?

AtheneNoctua · 09/10/2009 11:00

SO, what did everyone think of DC's speech yesterday? I though it got a ver positive reaction in the North -- which says very much about how the country is swing away from Labour and towards the Tories. Yippee

scaryteacher · 09/10/2009 12:00

Speech was good - I would like to see the small print on defence though, and much as I admire General Dannatt - he's Army first, and we are a naval family.

You are not alone - I too am true blue from a northern working class town.

Both my DH and I grew up in very poor households and have worked our bits off for the last 20 years to buy our own home, start our own business and yes educate our DD in the private sector.

I make no apologies for what we have achieved but it really pisses me off to listen to those who think life/society owes them a good salary/final pension scheme while they work half as hard as we have done ! My theory is you come in with nothing and go out with nothing - what you achieve inbetween is up to you

scattykatty · 09/10/2009 13:52

Woo hoo blue all the way, I'd never vote anything else.

Look what has happened to this Hell Hole under Labour

USERSRLOSERS · 10/10/2009 08:00

Worley, others who work outside of public sector have had salaries frozen (mine 4 years) I froze my pension cos i cant afford it at the mo but am paying £245 a year just to pay council pensions from my council tax. Public Sector pensions not my pension. So why shouldn't you share our pain. I have tried for public sector jobs but no luck, an insider told me that 3 years at private school on my C.V would have scuppered my chances. So you guys have your own old boy network too. More BLEEDING HEART LFTIE HYPOCRISY

ilovemydogandmrobama · 10/10/2009 08:13

So, you're a Tory?

FlightAttendant · 10/10/2009 08:37

blardy hell.

alexfs · 10/10/2009 10:06

That's a relief, smallwhitecat. I was concerned as I thought I was the only woman (apart from SamCam) to find DC shaggable!

Seriously tho, I don't think 'arsehole' when he appears on my tv screen. Which is exactly what I think when all the Labour Ministers appear! As he has his own wealth I like to think he's in it for the right reasons whereas others are in it to milk the expenses and get a pension!
