I love her so dearly, she is like an aunty to my children, lifts me when I am down, would do anything for me, we have so much fun and she is generally fab, however, she has bought some imitation crocs. Ok they are only to go in the back garden and smoke when noone will see her, but still. I think I should probably cut all ties, what do you think?
Oh and they have the liittle clip on thingys on them too. If this extra information influences anything, didn't want to drip feed information.

Oh pigs. Interesting. But what to do with the crocs?

MmeGoblindt · 06/10/2009 13:46

Oh, God. I am too late.

I was going to tell you my story in the hope of saving your friend.

I am a recovering Crocaholic. It started with Birkenstocks, just as Tethersend said. Then I moved on to Crocs, the Caymanns to start with then as I got sucked in deeper and deeper I tried Cleos. By the winter of the first year I had sucumbed completely. To my shame, I bought the furry ones. With jibbits.

Some of my friends disowned me, they did not want to be seen with me. One friend really reached out for me. She took me shopping and pointed out normal shoes. She kept trying to tempt me in Marks and Spencers, thinking that the Footglove shoes would be a kind of Methadone to my Crocs.

Slowly slowly, she helped me out of the pit. If it weren't for her I might not have made it.

We went shopping together recently and I bought strappy sandals and wedges [proud].

I hope that my story might make a MNetter think twice about bludgening a friend to death for wearing Crocs.

JustAnotherManicMummy · 06/10/2009 13:50

You were very, very lucky MmeGoblindt. I've heard that Footglove is only effective in about 7% of cases.

Casserole · 06/10/2009 13:55

I bloody LOVE Mumsnet

MadreInglese · 06/10/2009 13:56

PMSL

I just KNEW this would be a croc thread

ConFuschias · 06/10/2009 14:04

I think you need to ush the croc clip on thingies deep into her eye sockets and take a photo - then display it as a warning to all other Croc wearers

ConFuschias · 06/10/2009 14:04

soory - push

scottishmummy · 06/10/2009 14:14

they are fake crocs with wee tags.double abhomination

not only does she chose gross plastic flat footed spoons for shoes, they are doon the market fakes

Flossytops · 06/10/2009 14:47

Are you people for real? I'm really hoping you're all taking the mickey, because if not... ye Gods. If you are seriously considering ending a friendship because of shoes you must be as fickle as fashion trends.

FlameWithTooManyHormones · 06/10/2009 14:50

what are the clip things of?

Bleh · 06/10/2009 14:55

MmeGoblindt - thank you for sharing. It's glad to know that some people can be saved. But for every happy story like yours, there are thousands of sad ones. People who got into crocs, then fake crocs, then wolf fleeces and combat trousers. Why the government doesn't do anything about this, I will never know "destroy the croc - make the world a better place. For this with a sense of style and really, really good taste. There are, people wearing crocs with jibbits in them, destroy the croc for you and for me".

Bleh · 06/10/2009 14:55

Heal the world, sorry. Got distracted by the shoe talk.

JustAnotherManicMummy · 06/10/2009 14:57

Flossytops which bit are you doubting?

I do hope it's that any one would in real life wear crocs.

I too struggled to believe it. But it is a fact some people really do.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 06/10/2009 14:59

He he he.....

JustAnotherManicMummy · 06/10/2009 15:00

Bleh you were right first time. The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Feet (NSPCF) has endorsed Heel The World as their anthem.

We sing it at the beginning of every support group meeting. We find it really helps.

MmeGoblindt · 06/10/2009 15:00

Bleh
Thanks. I think that you should mail your "Heel the World" song to Bono and Bob. Might be a Xmas no1 in the making.

Or the TwatTwins from X Factor if Bono is not interested?

Proceeds to CrocsAnon, obviously.

Geocentric · 06/10/2009 15:05

Now I've had to go and google wolf fleeces... and I'm still not sure what they are!!! Is this it?
Or maybe this?
Or maybe this alternative to mooncups?

FlameWithTooManyHormones · 06/10/2009 15:06

I suspect the TwatTwins wear them....

Bleh · 06/10/2009 15:09

Geo - It's either one of the first two.

Of course, the majority of the proceeds would go to CrocsAnon, though naturally I would have to take some of them in recognition of my contribution.

Thank goodness this issue came up now, in time to get the single out and selling before xmas. I'm sure Bob and Bono will get involved shortly. Or Madonna. She seems the type to support a charity to help those with bad shoe choices. Or Posh Spice! I'm sure if I explained that there are people who don't wear 20" heels, she'll totally get on board (may also point out working for a charity makes her more popular).

Honeypeckle · 06/10/2009 15:12

I too had a friend who owned a pair of pink crocs...apparently to do the gardening in. We don't speak any more understandably! She also had a croc keyring, so sad...

Geocentric · 06/10/2009 15:16

Thanks Bleh! Nope, I'm in the clear as to fleeces...

MmeGoblindt · 06/10/2009 15:24

There is the new SATC film coming out, I feel that SJP would be the right person to forefront our publicity.

Or do you think that the sight of Jimmy Choos might be too much for Crocoholics? Should we go for a more comforting choice, perhaps Lorraine Kelly or even Judy Finnigan. Judy looks like a Footglove kind of gal.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 07/10/2009 09:39

I have a message from my friend, who I showed this thread to, she says we all need to get a life, but then she would, obviously this was the zombie her as I killed the real one.
