And I didn't notice OP belittling anyone's problems, or being rude, unlike some others on this thread.

and what i would suggest is if there is anyone who is feeling very down and possibly depressed they should go speak to their Gp or someone who can help them

and im not talking about people who are suffering from any kind of mental health problem of any depressive states im talking about listening to people generally moaning about everythign in a day to day life
as it sems to me that people have so much more than they have ever had and its still not enough

right about now, i'm getting my kicks from lifting snails off wherever i see them, hanging around, clinging onto something and flinging them into the bushes.

i had been watching an apple on one of the two trees in the garden for a while now, waiting for it to ripen.

and this morning i noticed it had fallen off.

so i went up to it and it was covered in slugs.

that really pissed me off.

so i drop kicked that fucking apple from here to Kingdom come.

expatinscotland · 23/09/2009 00:17

'anyone who is feeling very down and possibly depressed they should go speak to their Gp or someone who can help them

and im not talking about people who are suffering from any kind of mental health problem '

depression is a mental health problem.

maybe things are a bit rough right about now, but you know, i do the positive: at least i've got a tangible grip on the semantics of the English language.

alwayslookingforanswers · 23/09/2009 00:18

you know - quite often people don't realise they have a mental health problem or depression until it kicks up and smacks them in the face

expatinscotland · 23/09/2009 00:19

c'mon, always, the OP is called 'preeny'. instead of moaning, c'mon. life is about never missing the opportunity to rip the piss.

alwayslookingforanswers · 23/09/2009 00:21

actually you know maybe you're right and I was right when I posted the other night.

I'm moaning and whinging, now I'm spreading it onto other threads. I bloody knew this would happen and now it has.

Think I ought to sign out until life is looking rosier, whenever the hell that may be.

preeny · 23/09/2009 00:21

no i am not aware of any one else's posts on here as i have not read through every post on mumnett.

this is right up there with, 'i'm not a racist but . . . '

or 'oh, but i don't mean you . . . '

nybom, is that you?

expatinscotland · 23/09/2009 00:22

you are so fucking not going to sign out over someone who calls themselves 'preeny'!

expatinscotland · 23/09/2009 00:24

a thread moaning about people moaning.

classic, baby!

alwayslookingforanswers · 23/09/2009 00:25

no - I nearly got my thread deleted the other day because I realised all I was doing was moaning and whinging. Been trying to at least contain my self indulgent whines to the one thread. It's obviously not working

Plonker · 23/09/2009 00:26

Well if YANBU then you are doing exactly what pisses you off ...

Makes total sense

preeny · 23/09/2009 00:27

Yes, it's very easy to get trapped into megative thinking and let your problems drag you down and consume you. It's very human. If things are very bad, it can be hard to put that to one side and be chirpy.

It's good that you are a listening ear, even if you are secretly thinking that you are fed up of negativity. you're human too, after all, and moaning about people moaning is quite funny really, don't you think?

Just in the OP's defence, and I'm not quite sure why what they've said that has touched such a nerve with some posters, I can see where she's coming from.

A woman, who I mostly see just dropping DD off at school, every single time I see her, without fail, anything she says is negative/centred on a problem she has. It's not that I don't want to talk about someone elses problems, or think we should all put on a happy smiley persona, but I dread bumping into her. One day she was complaining she'd been sacked from yet another job and said 'If it wasn't for the benefits I get not working, I'd probably try a bit harder to hold onto my jobs'

I know the woman well enough to know she hasn't got depression etc, but like it or not, if you are going to go on and on about how life's dealt you a shit hand to everyone within earshot, and never mix it with any other topic, then you're probably not being paranoid when you think people are avoiding you.
