This thread

honestly. I didn't realise so much went in to inviting your mate round for coffee.

i normally have a very open house policy and have people in and out all the time but i think i may have to reconsider now.
god knows what people must think about my own lax housework skills.

they'd all hate it here. shoes off, no soap, bookcases and books everywhere, washing up in sink .
but we're wheelchair friendly andhave hoists n slings and accessible loos

2shoes · 14/09/2009 18:50

THATS IT, i LOVE YOUR HOUSE RIVEN(i'LL BRING MY OWN SOAP AND WEAR CLEAN SOCKS) OOPS

2shoes · 14/09/2009 18:51

{i do hate cats on tables and work tops though}

Shells · 14/09/2009 18:53

Its scary isn't it. Do they really think all those things about other people's houses? I'm deeply suspicious of over-tidy. Don't their kids make mess? Why?

2shoes · 14/09/2009 18:55

when dd is home, we look like a bomb site. one of d's friends visited, she has a carer so the care came to chat, and offered to help me tidy

TrillianAstra · 14/09/2009 18:58

Chill dudes, it was supposed to be things that irrationally annoy you. Y'know, things that you know don't matter that much.

I didn't understand the 'there was no soap in the house'. Well, I'm sure they washed with something. I doubt it was a house of people who did not wash.

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 14/09/2009 19:00

come right over 2shoes

2shoes · 14/09/2009 19:04

I love book cases, but only if the owner doesn'y mind me haveing agood look at the books

LadyStealthPolarBear · 14/09/2009 19:05

Well I have ticking clocks to send everyone mad! I could have a horror film made about my house!

Mamazon · 14/09/2009 19:06

i have 2 royal/Ball pythons but they are both babies. teh biggest is about a year old and the baby os only 2 months.
and i have a sub adult corn snake. he's about 5ft but not big and fat.

they are all very friendly though. in fact the kids down the street all knock to come and hold them far more often than they knock to play with the dc's.

dogonpoints · 14/09/2009 19:06

fuck me. We are a house obsessed nation right enough

hazeyjane · 14/09/2009 19:09

Our house is always a tip, with just about all the pet hates of the other thread; piles of books, stacks of 'stuff' waiting to be sorted, too many coats, shoes, toys etc etc and - oh horrors - a washing up bowl....

We do have lots of nice cake though, so I hope we are nice to visit.

LadyStealthPolarBear · 14/09/2009 19:09

Does anyone admit to having the TV on too loud?

differentID · 14/09/2009 19:09

2shoes, if you can sort out the double stacked bookcases to have a nosy, you're welcome!

glastocat · 14/09/2009 19:10

How the fuck can bookcases be annoying? Seriously?

noddyholder · 14/09/2009 19:11

Oh god 2shoes my cats are on the table!

Deemented · 14/09/2009 19:13

See now, when i invite friends round, i expect them to come and see me - if they are coming purely to view the state of my house, then they can just feck right off.

The way i look at it is this - this is my home. It's where i live. It is not a bloody showhome. I have two young 'uns and they live here too.

I will not look back in 30 years time and think.. 'Oh i wish i'd done more housework...'

scottishmummy · 14/09/2009 19:19

never knowingly invited another mn to my house.so if they are gassing about it I don't know...and what I don't know wont harm me

I am relaxed in my own house
I am relaxed in other's house

dogonpoints · 14/09/2009 19:21

har - no, I have never invited a mntter to my house either

warthog · 14/09/2009 19:22

the thing i don't like about those sorts of threads are that i don't actually go round to friends' houses crossing things off my list of badness. i just enjoy them for what they are. then i read a thread like that and i think 'oh yes perhaps that does irritate me a bit'. and then get upset when someone hates something i do.

it's just not very nice is it?

i hate people being so fucking judgemental.

HigherThanAWombat · 14/09/2009 19:22

Pythons and a corn snake?

May I borrow them?

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 14/09/2009 19:22

my cats are sat on the sides in the kitchen. Short of cutting their legs off what can you do
Must clean out their bowl though. Its a bit mingy.
I love other people's bookcases for a jolly good nosey.

pinknosedevereux · 14/09/2009 19:22

What's wrong with bars of soap anyway? I don't get it, i never use liquid soap it's so bad for the enviroment.
I found that thread soo depressing I'd no idea that people were so petty and so RICH that they had no idea that some people's towels, sheets, carpets or whatever are just what they've got; not what they would choose if they had all the money in the world!

electra · 14/09/2009 19:23

omg - I don't blame you! Have never seen such a paranoia inducing thread!

LadyStealthPolarBear · 14/09/2009 19:24

but warthog it's light hearted. I'm guilty of plenty of the crimes, and I have judged DMRiven, and found her wanting too You just need to have the confidence that if you already think you're an OK person, owning and eing judged for a standalone kitchen towel dispenser won't impact on your self-esteem.
