According to the advertiser on the mumsnet talk page this is the perfect outfit for school run at a cost of £1,023. Whilst yes I actually like it, what planet do these people live on?? I need to know because it's no where near here LOL!!

Those shoes are vile!

You can buy jeans, Cardigan etc for much much cheaper than that and look exactly the same!

My DD is only 2, so not at school yet. I'm not looking forward to doing a school run if people are looking at my clothes!

weegiemum · 06/09/2009 16:26

I have never spent that on an outfit - and that includes my entire wedding ensemble PLUS going away outfit.

Flip! Some people have more money than sense they know what to do with!

diddl · 06/09/2009 16:35

To go back to the OP,YANBU.
But I think that anyone who thinks a "school run" outfit actually exists is a bit sad!

2rebecca · 06/09/2009 17:02

Why are blue jeans and black boots a no no Bibithree? I think tight blue jeans and calf length black boots look quite sexy. I like blue and black together, although very dark navy and black doesn't go as well. It's not like orange and red.

oldraver · 06/09/2009 17:46

The top looks like any available in a supermarket for under a tenner

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 06/09/2009 17:47

I wear blue jeans and black boots. Mainly cos I only have one pair of boots and black goes with everything. Cant imagine matching foot wear with what I'm wearing

Bibithree · 06/09/2009 18:00

I thought it was an MN fashion law ...

Bibithree · 06/09/2009 18:06

I didn't dream it

edam · 06/09/2009 18:12

Boring and agree cardigan is hideous.

edam · 06/09/2009 18:12

(And don't understand why black boots + jeans is so bad, either.)

diddl · 06/09/2009 18:16

I always thought brown boots with jeans?

Northernlurker · 06/09/2009 18:22

I have black boots and brown boots and I wear both with jeans - so shoot me

This outfit is just so very dull - jeans and a big cardi? Well slap me with a Nicole Farhi beret but our school pick up is lousy with mums embracing that look already.

MamaLazarou · 06/09/2009 19:09

Those boots are nice.

School-run outfit indeed. Pah.

Black boots look fine with jeans.

Eve4Walle · 06/09/2009 19:16

Ugh...what's with those boots. They are disgusting.

busybutterfly · 06/09/2009 22:14

Cardi and boots revolting (£200 for a ski cardi?! Didn't C&A sell them for tuppence back in the day and they were hideous then?!

LilTulip · 06/09/2009 22:24

I could do that look for less than £30... with different boots though.

What a pure waste of money. Even if i could afford designer prices would still buy second hand!!! Great stuff for a fraction of the price

LetThemEatCake · 06/09/2009 22:27

ah well, to be fair, it does say "inspire me" ... so it could be taken as giving you ideas for a look that you could put together yourself, maybe with one or two designer bits and the rest from cheaper sources (which is what I tend to do, I think top to toe designer looks naff, but I also tend to avoid top to toe high street)

as for the pricey jeans, I dunno ... I bought a pair of 7s over 5 years ago now ... they were £160 from memory ... and are still going strong. Given that I wear them at least, what, 2 or 3 times a week, they were worth it I think.

Agree those boots are foul though. And like the cardi, but would rather find one in a charity shop.

Georgimama · 06/09/2009 22:39

There is nothing in the least bit inspiring about that outfit though. I could do that outfit from Peacocks for about 40 quid (less the shoes) and from Dotty P for less than 100. It's a boring outfit and similar clothes could be found anywhere.

Rosesinautumn · 06/09/2009 22:44

It's a revelation to me that you need a 'school run outfit'! Huh? There's me, blissfully ignorant, thinking "get changed out of PJ's" would sufice. Oh crap.

Seems like a hell of a lot of money to spend to look that casual although I agree that a really good pair of jeans or boots can be an investment....not those boots though, blurgh!

drlove8 · 06/09/2009 22:46

i would ,mortify my kids if i turned up at school to collect them/drop them off dressed like that >. whats wrong with normal clothes that look nice and are comfy???

LetThemEatCake · 06/09/2009 22:59

I don't do a school run yet so forgive me if I have this all wrong ... but isn't it supposed to be based on the assumption that you;re dropping the kids off and then going on to lunch/ a meeting/ shopping/ whatever?? Not home to scrub the inside of the dishwasher? In which case an outfit like that would be ideal, wouldn't it? Although I must reiterate, NOT the boots!! Love the hat though, have just asked my mum to make me one similar.

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 07/09/2009 07:43

designer stuff for 'school run'. Like anyone could tell if it was primrark or farhi.
And I come home to scrub things after school run. Cleaning up from breakfast chaos.

LetThemEatCake · 07/09/2009 09:34

I beg to differ. I think that rather a lot of people can tell the difference between Primark and Farhi.

diddl · 07/09/2009 09:39

Boots, jeans, top, cardi.
Would never have thought of that combo without help!

MissM · 07/09/2009 09:43

Eek. Are we supposed to wear an 'outfit' to do the school run? Better re-think the toast-and-toothpaste-covered trousers that I dragged out of the bottom of my cupboard today then.
