to expect to find kids clothes that actually fit?

My ds is 2.6, and I have real difficulty finding trousers to fit! Summer is fine, as he is in shorts most of the time, but when it comes to long trousers, it's a nightmare. He's not especially thin, just a 'normal' size, but all the trousers are huge around the waist, and the legs are so baggy! Not that I want him in skinny jeans or anything, but just a nice fitting pair. If I get a smaller size, they are too short. I do have some with adjustable waists, but they can be uncomfortable when they are all ruched at the back.
Do they only make clothes for all these obese children we keep hearing so much about?!

Am I wrong for thinking that making bigger clothes a normal thing and having clothes for fat larger kids is just encoraging the obisity crisis. Stupid parents who already seem to have no idea their kids are to big don't even have the struggle of finding clothes to make them realise their kids need to eat less and healthier food now. I also really resent having to spend more on my childrens clothes just so they don't fall down. And another thing shouldn't we pay less for less matirial?

We have a Gap at the local outlet store (I asume there are more around the country) and the range is huge, much bigger range than the local stores. I've bought sweatpant type cargo's from there for only £4
