ooooh no beard tonight. do you think he has read this.

PolarBear74 · 27/08/2009 22:03

Hooray for the lack of beard but did you notice that Russell had it instead!

SausageRocket · 27/08/2009 22:09

Rhod, oh yes please.

Went to see him earlier this year and he was ace. Very cute too.

Saw Frankie last Nov and he was really disappointing. Lots of old material and just not funny. Just trying that bit too hard with the shock tactics and I like edgy humour.

curiositykilled · 27/08/2009 22:10

lol, I like his really offensive jokes! I like chilli pepper too. I would quite happily eat a whole meal of chilli and would enjoy a date with his terribly offensive jokes... All this is making me think I need to see him live... I think DH's man crush would not stand up to his stand up though. He 'likes to think he has a high tolerance' too. I just find really offensive things funny

Sean Locke is hilarious, i love 8 out of 10 Cats, Jason Mansford is also funny, his wife had twins last week!

I can't however stand Michael Macintyre (sp?)

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/08/2009 22:14

Wrt to Frankie's beard, it would be just great if he had read this thread cos there's nothing better than honest and unfettered feedback. And I should think anyone with an ego as colossal as FB's would google his name on a daily basis, or at least some minion at his agent's office would.

But, yes, back to the beard: I wouldn't be surprised if he's just had a little cameo role in a film/play/tv ad. that required him to have a beard.

Lizzylou · 27/08/2009 22:17

I fancy them all, Russell was looking tanned and blonde tonight, and am massively in love with Hugh Dennis.

8 out of 10 cats reminds me of being in early labour with DS2, bouncing on a birthing ball and laughing like a drain. Trying to forget what was about to happen.

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/08/2009 22:22

Well, we clearly need a live Webchat with all the cast of Mock The Week. MNHQ - could you please arrange, thanks.

dogofpoints · 27/08/2009 22:37

I don't like Jason Mansford. And afer watching Jimmy Carr's stage show on telly last week, I don't like him either.

PolarBear74 · 27/08/2009 22:45

No Lizzylou - Hugh Dennis is all mine.

I did like the guest comedian's (can't remember his name) sketch about Ryan air tonight. "You want a glass with that?!"

Lizzylou · 27/08/2009 22:47

Polarbear, fight you for him?
I saw him when at UNi and loved him, and now in outnumbered too..........

Gwan, give me your best shot!

PolarBear74 · 27/08/2009 22:49

Outside then (she says claws at the ready)!

Now outnumbered was just so funny. The lines the kids came out with just so clever.

iamtrufflepig · 27/08/2009 22:59

Really don't like Outnumbered. It was ok when the kids were younger, but has lost its appeal now. Agree with pointofdog that Jimmy Carr was absolutely vile on his telly show last week and with bibbitybobbityhat that it would be really funny if FB had read this thread. Maybe he could let us know if he has.

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/08/2009 23:10

Yay! I thought I was the only person in the world who doesn't like Outnumbered.

curiositykilled · 27/08/2009 23:10

Oh I really disliked outnumbered. I thought the comedy was stilted and obvious and the characters were a bit pointless, contrived and one dimensional. I remeber thinking 'Hugh Dennis is much better than this'.

I like Rich Hall too but he is not remotely attractive even though he is funny and clever as hell!

Frankie Boyle is far to big for his boots. He's be at it in his brown suit whilst making jokes about Bathgate. Russell Howard is looking a bit too groomed now too (or has he just been on holiday?).

Give me Dylan Moran anyday, 'cept he'd be far too drunk, smokey and generally grumpy - what's not to like?.

Tortington · 27/08/2009 23:23

i love both russell and frankie - indeed i love mock the week - its on my must watch bbc i player list

ErikaMaye · 27/08/2009 23:29

He's very funny in small doses - and rather cute without the beard!! - but live, I'm afraid, he's terrible, and actually rather nasty I was so disappointed.

Russell or Dara on the other hand. Yes please!

iamtrufflepig · 27/08/2009 23:36

Agree with everybody who says that Russell is lovely. Can't bring myself to say he is fanciable as he is young enough to be my son.

arolf · 28/08/2009 15:27

Frankie Boyle is hilarious on MTW - but have seen some of his stand up and it's painful. It's just him doing a series of one-liners and insulting anyone who has been in the news recently.
Dara O'Briain on the other hand - his live stuff is AMAZING, best comedian I've seen in years - like a cerebral Billy Connolly.

But MTW is currently one of the best TV shows around. Although the round where 4 do stand up really annoys my DP and I - how come it's 3 from 1 team and 1 from the other? It doesn't make sense!!!

(and Polarbear - it's Fred McAuley who did the ryanair skit - he's another scottish comedian who is fine in small doses - my dad was interviewd by him once for a radio show, and said it was quite awkward, as FM seemed to feel under pressure to be funny, which made him difficult to communicate with!)

Wellywearer · 30/08/2009 18:22

Why are the women comic's generally so rubbish on MTW is it just the editing?

Thequeensfool · 30/08/2009 20:00

Yabu yuck! Russell Howard on the other hand...I love love love him! [swoon]

I love MTW, it's fab. Think Hugh Dennis is very funny.

Re female comics I agree. Has Shappi Korshandi been on? She's very funny.
