I like that welsh rhod fella that's on mock the week every once in a while too... But no, Frankie Boyle, I'd never ever get sick of his scathing wit.

Hmmm, Frankie is funny but that weird thing he does with his glasses really puts me off. Just get some glasses that fit!

I have a massive crush on Ed "Am I invisible in this f*cking jacket?" Byrne and have to tell DH it's because of his charming Irish accent but recently realised it's because he really reminds me of an ex

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 25/08/2009 14:55

Oh yeah the glasses thing bugs me too, think it is just habit for him now.
Most of my male rlatives talk like him.
DH had never watched him until I made hme recently now he has a bit of a man crush too I think.

Arcadie · 25/08/2009 15:34

In order:

Frankie
Dara
Ed Byrne
Russell Howard.

Never ever ever ever ever ever ever Rhod Gilbert.

Ever.

eww

But to clarify DH would obviously come first...

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 25/08/2009 15:40

Do you really think you should be posting about your DH's premature ejaculation problem?

NorbertDentressangle · 25/08/2009 15:44

I'm in the "hilarious but hideous" camp where Frankie Boyle is concerned.

(not relevant but I've just bought tickets to go and see his stand-up show but its not til May next year!)

muddlinleigh · 27/08/2009 13:05

Rob Newman is very handsome and sexy in real life.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 27/08/2009 13:13

Not with the beard.....

I love Dara though...

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 27/08/2009 13:17

frankie boyle makes me laugh with my whole belly therefore i adore him. ditto dara o'brien. i wouldn't do either of them though.

bumpsoon · 27/08/2009 13:24

YANBU at all ,i have his dvd and parts of it made me squirm ,in a i read the guardian i shouldnt find this funny but do kind of way

GrimmaTheNome · 27/08/2009 13:25

YABU. He's just that bit too harsh, and not always amusingly so.

Do a thought experiment on each of the Mock the Week crew (and other comedians of choice). What would their response be to "Does my bum look big in this?"

Some of them would be funny but I think Frankie would just make you cry.

NorkilyChallenged · 27/08/2009 13:29

Noooooooo. The BEARD Too awful.

I think my DP has a man crush too. He laughs a bit too loudly at Frankie's jokes.

I have been in love with Rob Newman since my teens though. Has he aged well?

PolarBear74 · 27/08/2009 13:44

I'm with you on the anti-beard thing - he really needs to sort that out.

I much prefer Hugh Dennis

millenniumfalcon · 27/08/2009 13:58

rob newman's aged a lot better than stewart lee for some reason i took strongly against rob when i saw him recently(ish) but i think that was cos he was doing a double bill with mark thomas and while they both lecture a bit mark does it in a much more entertaining way.

millenniumfalcon · 27/08/2009 13:59

btw won't mention anything about polarbear's post to give her a chance to get mntowers to delete once she sobers up

dawntigga · 27/08/2009 14:05

My son and dp are both ginger - I can tolerate ginger a lot and he makes me laugh. Men who make me laugh are V sexy. OMG there's a guilty pleasure out in the open

cruelladepoppins · 27/08/2009 19:59

Aaargh! YABU YABU YABU

I too have found him funny on Mock the Week but at least there his humour is leavened by other people.

I went to see him live and it's obvious that with nothing and no-one to restrain him he goes well beyond the knuckle (oh sorry, he'd probably make an off-colour joke about that too). I really don't find jokes about paedophillia, Madeleine McCann etc funny. And there were lots of them.

I would have walked out except a very nice friend had organised the tickets and I didn't want to upset her. Also you know how you keep hoping things are going to get better?

He's kind of like chilli pepper - gives you a bit of a kick and is fine in small doses, but you wouldn't want to eat a whole meal of it.

And he thinks he's "It" as well. No. Can't be bothered. Yuck. I turn the telly off now if he's on, I dislike him so much.

(Hope that's clear!)

iamtrufflepig · 27/08/2009 20:02

He's way too smug, the way he sits back nodding his head with smuggy smugnessness once he has made one of his smug remarks.

indiechick · 27/08/2009 20:09

No, Dara all the way!

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/08/2009 20:15

Quite agree with cruella. His jokes are borderline offensive and I consider myself to have a high tolerance level. I saw Mock The Week being recorded earlier this series and most of FB's stuff is unusable on tv.

dogofpoints · 27/08/2009 20:22

yabu

He seems such a flinty unpleasant person in many ways.

I much prefer the jovial sean locke. You know where you are with sean.

If I was on a date with frankie, I'd be too concerned he'd be thinking sneering, harsh thoughts about me.

If I was on a date with sean, we'd have a hoot and he would fancy me.

Welshwoman · 27/08/2009 20:36

I'm afraid to - I fancy them all even Dara who looks like Uncle Fester

choppychopster · 27/08/2009 20:54

Quite like small doses of Frankie Boyle, but get fed up with him constantly interupting everyone and be so "ME, ME, ME!" shouty. Not keen on the ginger beard, I have to confess.

Rhod Gilbert on the other hand... Yum!
