I think i am......

Ok so the story goes ive just recently lost 5 stone (got a couple more stone to go) and am,for the first time in years shopping in "normal" clothes shops, NOW out shopping yesterday im standing in a shop fingering through the "normal" sized clothes rails and looking over to the plus sized rails feeling really smug watching the ladies choose their big baggy cover ups.

i feel dreadfull for even thinking like this, that was me a few weeks ago.... but i cant help but feel smug!

I am BU arent i??

There are some saintly people on here who never have an unPC thought! I don't expect OP goes around sounding smug, I think she is entitled to feel it, in private. If she had used 'proud' instead, probably a better word, some people would still have knocked it.

I didn't say what you SHOULD feel OP. I just mentioned how I would feel.
I would never tell anybody how they should feel; feelings aren't rational responses.

I might mention the way I would think about things, and often feelings change when we think about things differently.

So I would feel grateful, because

  • I wouldn't take it for granted that I would stay thin having lost the weight, but I at least I still have today. &
  • I know lots of people who have tried to lose weight and didn't succeed, so
  • I would be grateful (feel lucky) that I had whatever it takes to succeed in losing weight, since lots of people obviously don't have it, &
  • I would hope that I was lucky enough to have whatever it takes to keep weight off.

You can choose to think about things entirely differently. I only mentioned all that as another way to think about your situation, a string of thoughts that perhaps explains why I end up with somewhat different feelings than you mentioned in OP.

well done on the weight loss , it must've taken a lot of work to get it off, (is it a certain diet you are on or are you just counting the cals?).

you defo have the right to feel proud and can totally understand you seeing other people that are the size you used to be and feeling glad that you are no longer that size.

lets just agree to disagree on this lijkk!

OP posts:
LittleMissMummy · 20/08/2009 19:39

twinkletoescare · 20/08/2009 19:41

LittleMissMummy · 20/08/2009 21:46

twinkle - that must have been tough - I think you have earned the right to feel smug! Well done again

twinkletoescare · 20/08/2009 22:06

lol yes it is a normal diet!
Its recomended by the NHS and im under constant supervision (weekly visits) by my GP.
Yep its not always easy but is worth it when you see the results.
