to not buy food pots and weaning spoons because they only come in pink and blue??

DD (6mo) has started eating food - mostly BLW, but using a spoon for sloppy items (self-administered, kind of ). But I was in my local Tesco wanting to buy spoons and some of those lidded pot thingies to store the food I cook for her in, and was horrified to find that even these come in bloody blue and pissing pink? Why? I just don't get it...I can live with pink clothes (just about), but I start to lose the plot when this extends to every accessory. What next, boy nappies and girl nappies (and someone is going to tell me these already exist )

It's the fashion at the moment, it'll pass. I gather ELC have thought better of it. Not worth getting steamed up about. If you need them buy blue.

But no yanbu, I love it when I can buy something for DS that's not blue or brown, even though I think he looks best in brown.

At least boy/girl nappies make some kind of sense- as long as they're actually differently absorbant not just different colours.

Do those nappies exist though? I remember seeing them advertised a few years ago (pre-kids) but I've never seen them in a supermarket. Did they fail?

Sainsbos does some fetching ones in green and yellow/red ....

Wish that the buyers for the big supermarkets and chains would cotton on to the fact that not every child likes pink/blue ...

Seriously? It really doesn't matter that much. Your DD will only be using them for the next few months anyway.

What do you expect from Tescos? I had some orange ones from JL and some red ones from Sainsbury's.

The boy/girl nappies were to do with where the most absorbent part was. The efficiency of nappy design moved on so the were no longer needed.

At least the Annabelle Karmel spoons are red [prepares for AK-slating]. I had some purple little pots with lids (can't remember where from though, sorry).

only half serious...I don't live in the UK so crappy tesco is my only option (no JL or Sainsbos). It's not the spoons themselves that piss me off, more the girls=pink, boys=blue tyranny that seems so often to dictate what we can or can't buy

Mine are all tommee tippe and sainsburys own and none of them are pink.

I was exactly the same when looking in Mothercare for a cheapo changing mat, the cheapest ones came in either pink or blue, I wanted neither, just a nice plain white/cream one but for some reason they like to charge a few more quid for those ones! Grrr.
And all ELC seem to have done in the new catalogue is relaunch older products in various grotty shades of pink. Im thinking of renaming it The Pink Shop.

I've got lime green ones, think they're Tommee Tippee.

Pretty much all of my friends have girls and ALL of them have bought ELC Easels, sand tables, tills, cookers etc in blue cause they think the pink is so gross and sickly!

On the plus side, at least you have more choice in clothes. There always seems to be at least twice as much stuff for girls as there is for boys

This pink and blue thing is just ridiculous. Noticed Vtech now selling pink versions of their toys now.

Have DD 5 abd DS 2 so obviously don't want to buy pink toys to pass down.

Agree that the pink they use is awful.
