to not buy food pots and weaning spoons because they only come in pink and blue??

DD (6mo) has started eating food - mostly BLW, but using a spoon for sloppy items (self-administered, kind of ). But I was in my local Tesco wanting to buy spoons and some of those lidded pot thingies to store the food I cook for her in, and was horrified to find that even these come in bloody blue and pissing pink? Why? I just don't get it...I can live with pink clothes (just about), but I start to lose the plot when this extends to every accessory. What next, boy nappies and girl nappies (and someone is going to tell me these already exist )

When I worked in Boots before I got married there were separate boy and girl nappies and they had different absorbancy patches.

They didn't last long.

You don't have to buy specific weaning pots. Any plastic box with a lid will do.

The ones we (still) use are Munchkin bowls with suckers on the bottoms (the only suckered bowls that stay out, I've found) and they come in bright colours - purple, green, red, orange - no pink or pastels! We got them in Primark, and they're really worth snapping up. Our soft weaning spoons were from Jojo, I think, and are bi-coloured, also in bright primaries. You need to look further afield!

You don't buy them because they're unecessary, not because of the colour. Teaspoons and your usual plastic containers for storing food are fine. Buying special weaning stuff sounds nuts, like buying special child size beds and wardrobes. Lakeland plastics do loads of plastic pots if you haven't saved any margarine tubs etc.
