Pissing it down here too!! I'm sure when we were little every day of the school holidays were baking hot and it didn't go dark till ten.

Aaaaah, those were the days.

Anyway on with hair drying the washing dry

bratley · 29/07/2009 14:28

This time last year it was DS's 1st birthday and we decided to go to London Zoo, we got as far as the car park and called the whole thing off as the rain was bouncing back up off the road!
This weekend we're planning Legoland and a bbq for his 2nd birthday. I'm not holding our much hope for the bbq, got a feeling DH'll be outside cooking and we'll all be inside laughing eating and drinking wine tea!

As for the washing, I have 3 piles of washing that I can't do because there's no more room in the house to hang stuff!
The washing thats in now is on its 2nd cycle, was sat in the washing machine all day yesterday!
Got family down at the weekend, SIL's gonna think I'm a right lazy moo with washing piled everywhere!

MoontheMightyThreadKiller · 29/07/2009 14:29

Bleh, stand up now and march over they, unplug the fan and cut the plug off with a stanley knife.

I guarantee they wont say a word.

MoontheMightyThreadKiller · 29/07/2009 14:30

See bratley, I told you you had cursed the sun. Fancy going to Legoland on a weekend now its BOUND to rain!

MoontheMightyThreadKiller · 29/07/2009 14:31

Happy Birthday to DS though

bleh · 29/07/2009 14:40

I am going to take my heater from under my desk and put it on top so they really have something to complain about.

bleh · 29/07/2009 14:41

Though I do like the Stanley knife idea ... maybe if "fan gate" develops further.

it started raining here on St Swithins' day and has rained evry day since.....!

We are skint and I am running out of ideas to keep 9 and 11 yr-olds boys meaningfully and happily occupied without spending evry day at cinema.

MoontheMightyThreadKiller · 29/07/2009 14:52

Molly you're right!! I even said to my DS1 it's raining today and it's st swithens day which means 40 days of rain! Blimey, never believed all that crap before but...

bleh, put your heater in front of their fan

mummydoc · 29/07/2009 15:02

it's raining here and has been on/off but more on than off for 3 weeks now, i have the tumble dryer going and last night lit fire in sitting room, dds still in winter nighties...so pissed off as dd1 has organised ( almost by herself) a swimming pool party for her friends on saturdya at our house, now i will have 11 9 year old girls to entertain ...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

bratley · 29/07/2009 15:06

Funnily enough Moon, it was SIL and BIL's idea to come down for DS's birthday as they 'have some time off and would love to take (my neice) to legoland'. Nice to know we're useful for somewhere to stay eh!?
Thanks for the birthday wishes!

bleh, please take a stanley knife to the fan, would love to have the balls to do something like that sometimes!

MoonIsATiredSlayer · 29/07/2009 15:32

It's raining again here. I feel so let down by the brief promise of sun.

oldraver · 29/07/2009 15:37

I'm sick of going to get a towel and it still being damp. In the winter it dries nicely on the towel radiator and in the summer I hand the towel on the open bathroom Velux so it airs and smells lovely.... Every fecking one is damp

AnyFucker · 29/07/2009 15:45

me too moon

I have been on annual leave for the last 2 weeks and I am so disappointed

we did not get to do any of the things I had planned

we are like caged rats here, and I feel seriously pissed off, I have lost enthusiasm for anything now

so please, any of you cheery people, do not tell me to put my mac and wellies on and go for a splash

'cos I don't fucking want to !!!!!

MoonIsATiredSlayer · 29/07/2009 15:52

I'm in your camp AF and I'm not even on holiday!

Old raver I can't believe you have the windows open brrrrr.

oldraver · 29/07/2009 16:00

Moon no thats the point I was making, When its not raining I open the Velux for fresh air natuarally and hang the towel off it and end up with lovely aired nice smelling towel. Rain = no fresh air and damp towel

If the Velux was opened the bathroom would be swimming

MoonIsATiredSlayer · 29/07/2009 16:02

Oh sorry as you can tell by the name, I'm a bit tired and so consequently not all there!

firstmum45 · 29/07/2009 16:20

I'm actually doing some ironing today just to keep warm

Also wearing a winter woolie

I am f-f-f-f-freezing!

blowbroth · 29/07/2009 16:21

Sorry anyfer, we put our macs and wellies on and went out. I couldn't stand being in the house all day. We only went to the local garden centre and then raided all the local charity shops for books.
Got back soaked but glad we made the effort.

LOL at ironing to keep warm.

Blowbroth you must be from Yorkshire, surely?

AnyFucker · 29/07/2009 16:24

no blow, I am staying put and sulking

the kids are killing each other on the Wii, anyway

if I suggested a trip out they would look at me like this

blowbroth · 29/07/2009 16:33

No, but did go to boarding school in the middle of the moors up there. I see that time as 'character building'!

AF sorry about your leave know how u feel

We choose to drive to France a couple of years ago thought it would be easier than flying with small child. The year before had been a heatwave in northern France as it had been in the uk, however that year it pissed it down everyday for a whole two weeks.

We were in a caravan we were that desperate for sun we even looked on line for cheap flights to spain for our last week of the holidays but to no avail.

That year was a bad one for holidays now always go somewhere with guaranteed sun just counting the days now till my break in Crete

AnyFucker · 29/07/2009 17:16

thanks for sympathy firstmum45

what is more irritating, is that we missed the bit of summer we had here the 1st week of June by going abroad on holiday

it was hotter in the UK than where we were !!

I am cursed, I tell ye
