when the mum put on invites no pressies as she feels that her 6yr has enough toys/book etc

esp as her dc was at school today and after other children saying they got xyz for their birthday - she said she didnt know what she was getting from her mum and dad

and obv wont get any pressies from her party tomorrow

i really want to take something for her

surely 6yr is too young not to get pressies

yes after a few interegations chats to other mums, out of the 20 children who attended - 12 took pressies

to make it worse at school gates this am, party mum and other mum were both chatting, party mum was saying thanks to other mum for pressie and gave her a thank you card

other mum looked at me and asked what i had got child - i replied through gritted teeth nothing as that was on the invite

i said i felt bad, but i had obeyed taken note of what was on the invite, where as others (i looked pointly at other mum) didnt

again i will say it, if you are having a party please DONT put no pressies on invite as it make me all parents confused and upsets the children going

just be GRATEFUL that your child will get some presents from people who care

and if you want to recycle them then do

Well, if she said no presents, don't feel bad about it.

What some of my friends and i who all have children with birthdays fairly close together is, we have only a one or two actual parties and everyone brings one present and they are put into a box, and at the end of the party, everyone chooses one to take home. We set a price limit and the gift has to be non-gender specific. Its worked out really well, and in these cash strapped times its been a great.
