is asking to be thought a loon.

They match the colour of her shoes. Which somehow makes it worse.

but what is the definition of eccentricity

I used to have deep purple hair
I wear short skirts with leggings
I have a pair of hippy patchwork trousers
I am getting my nose pierced

I dont think I am eccentric
I just wear what I look at in the mirror and like

OrmIrian · 07/07/2009 15:33

modrin - I wear clothes as plain as possible. Very little floral stuff. No lace or frills. Jeans, t-shirts. Not terrible colourful. I don't like to stand out any more than I do by dint of my height.

And I admire the bloody-mindedness of eccentricity, I like the idea of being able to pull on any old thing that happens to be about. I dislike grown women trying to be cute - she isn't just floral, she is Hello Kitty personified iyswim.

OrmIrian · 07/07/2009 15:33

I do have a friend who wears Winnie the Pooh fleeces and tigger watches and that type of thing. I will admit it makes me cringe.

She's tiny and looks about 12 though she's my age,25,and then wonders why people think she looks like a kid.

However if it makes her happy, so be it. Each to their own.

OrmIrian · 07/07/2009 15:41

Ha! No good saying 'each to their own' thunder....you admit it makes you cringe. Yes! I am vindicated

hazeyjane · 07/07/2009 15:42

Is this like the bunches in the hair over 30 thing?

Thunderduck · 07/07/2009 15:43

My friend makes me cringe, perhaps because she's my friend, if I see other people doing it it really doesn't bother me.

Actually why it probably bothers me is because people seem to think that I'm her mother because she looks so young and is so small, I'm much taller than her but I don't think I look older than mid 20s.

It's not exactly what you want to hear.

LadyThompson · 07/07/2009 15:43

She sounds like she is enjoying life to me.

Nowt wrong with that. You probably express your joie de vivre in a different way.

Just because she fancies being a bit cutesypie doesn't mean she 'wants shooting with shit'

(Read that on a thread just and I think it is so evocative}

whoisasking · 07/07/2009 15:49

Oh, and those shaun the sheep backpacks as well.

Just Stop It. You're 37 years old FFS.

Thunderduck · 07/07/2009 15:49

Actually she acts like a kid too but that's another story.

OrmIrian · 07/07/2009 15:50

Joie de vivre! How dare you. Never touch the stuff. I am a natural Eeyore

OP posts:
Thunderduck · 07/07/2009 15:51

Shall I send her to you for a makeover Ormirian?

whoisasking · 07/07/2009 15:51

You might be an eeyore Orm, but as long as you're not WEARING eeyore, then that's alright.

TigerFeet · 07/07/2009 15:52

I don't usually bother with forming opinions on other people's clothes but there is one woman who I see walking her children to school every day in one of those fleeces with cute ickle doggies on them .

I mean, really

Kind of like the idea of wearing flowers in my hair though.

If you're going to Saaaan Fraaaaaansiiiiscooooo..

modrin · 07/07/2009 15:55

i read that as natural eyesore first time and was thinking dont be so hard on yourself

OrmIrian · 07/07/2009 15:56

modrin - that too

OP posts:
OrmIrian · 07/07/2009 15:57

Hanyway... I don't care that most of you think IABU. I am very very happy today so I shall try to be gracious to the ickle girly woman and smile on her follicular floral displays.

Why are you so happy? Do you have ice cream? Is it Ben and Jerry's?
If so you must share, according to the Ice cream law of 79'.

OrmIrian · 07/07/2009 16:03

No icecream. I have cashews and an apple.

But we were told today that DS#1 is getting a certificate from school for being a jolly good sort and having a good attitude etc.

OP posts:
Thunderduck · 07/07/2009 16:05

Wonderful. Well done to ds and you.

And I love cashews, so you have to share those too.

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 07/07/2009 16:05

Oh orm I do thsi somtimes (not always, when I fancy it)

am a loon though

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 07/07/2009 16:07

AM not Hello kitty mind LOL!

Just to mention, I never realised you were particularly tall LOL. Perhaps because at 5.5 feet I am shortest in my siblings so used to fairly tall, but nope can't remember spotting it

LuluSkipToMyLou · 07/07/2009 16:08

Jealousy is an ugly thing. Just because you're all grown up and the people who 'don't conform' are having more fun haven't.
