You may as well go the whole hog and let them have a fruitshoot with it too?

"when I was a kid we used to have McDonalds Birthday Parties "

well not stricrtly a McDonalds party

BUT last yeaer for DS1's 8th birthday I invited 5 of his friends for a "McDonald's and PS2 party".

Yep that's right - took them to McD's first, and then we came back here and they played PS2 for 2hrs.......and yes they all came

GooseyLoosey · 07/07/2009 09:55

Oh God - I had to host MacDs birthday parties. That is one of the terroble memories that means that I can't go there anymore.

Hulababy · 07/07/2009 09:58

lol GooseyLoosey. Fortunately it hasn't disturbed me too much having done them. I used t haev train all the new staff fr parties. At least I managed to avoid putting on the fancy dress costume when doing that bit.

GooseyLoosey · 07/07/2009 10:01

Hula - we didn't have a fancy dress costume - that would have been more than I could have borne. I just remember trying to play party games with a dozen little s*(&ts (they were probably lovely but that is not how it appeared to my 18 year old self) and not being in control at all. I shudder to think of it even now.

MuppetsMuggle · 07/07/2009 10:06

DD either goes to KFC or Maccy D's occasionally but either has Tropicana Orange Juice or water. the good thing is DD doesn't actually like fruitshoots and doesn't like fizzy but I think that has something to do with I don't have any indoors

treedelivery · 07/07/2009 10:08

See now I really want a chicken sandwich with a really cold coke. Damm it!

hobbgoblin · 07/07/2009 10:09

AYBU? No, YABU-O (You are being unoriginal)

Hulababy · 07/07/2009 10:11

Did no one have to be Ronald?

When I first started it was Wimpy and I remember having to be Mr Wimpey. Luvkily was quickly promoted to being in charge of hem and training others, so got everyone else to dress us. When we changed to BurgerKing it was a male costume with big headphones on, etc.

idranktheteaatwork · 07/07/2009 10:17

My dd has never had a fruitshoot at McDonalds. She has a coke every time.

FAQinglovely · 07/07/2009 10:19

ahh so caffeine and crappy sweeteners

isittooearlyforgin · 07/07/2009 10:19

"might as well be fanta" why stop there? - might as well be pesticide injected directly into their brains

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 07/07/2009 10:23

Mine like the orange juice but TBH I don't think once off's matter at all

Tis the food they get day in, day out that counts

OrmIrian · 07/07/2009 10:24

Hey why not go the whole way and let them have a shot of gin in it too

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 07/07/2009 10:24

Hula I have nightmares still about the man who was Mr Wimpy round our way and fancied me a bit chasing me around town dressed in full costume (that wasnt a drream, really happened- he moved on to a different female every few weeks)

Can't look at pics of Mr Wimpey since

random · 07/07/2009 10:24

Everytime I see a mcd thread it makes me crave a bigmac ...so YABU to keep starting threads

Hulababy · 07/07/2009 10:38

lol Peachy!

pingping · 07/07/2009 10:42

Looooooool @ Mcdonalds Parties I use to be a host for them and Hulababy they really weren't the one after a night out Sunday's were the worst party after party.

Nothing wrong with Mcdonalds food though

Morloth · 07/07/2009 11:58

My DS doesn't like MacDonalds the little freak, but I do - so sometimes he has to come with me while I have a cheeseburger.

He quite likes Fruit Shoots though and will nick my Diet Coke (has to be a Macca's one) if given a chance - so I think my crap mummy quota is OK?

booyhoo · 07/07/2009 13:08

boysarelikedogs

ock= och/ach. its a grumble. im from NI

crokky · 07/07/2009 13:09

OP: yes YABU

McD is lovely tasty food. Frootshoots taste disgusting! I'd rather drink nothing personally!

JemL · 07/07/2009 13:17

I had a McDonalds Party - they were the ultimate birthday event when I was little and I was desperate to have one!

Don't really know what all the fuss is about. Nutritionally speaking, McD's is no different to a childs meal in any establishment. Or, indeed, a lot of meals that people cook for their children at home. Putting it in a cardboard box and sticking a toy in seems to elevate a burger and chips to status of crack cocaine in the minds of some people. And if there really are people who think they are genuinely better parents becuase they don't feed their DC's McD's - no. There can't be. Can there?!

notlost · 07/07/2009 13:19

haha

read: "To think that if you give your DC a McDonalds..."

and thought: "gosh, if my folks gave me a McDonalds [restaurant that is] I would probably be set for life!"

'tis ok. I also utterly misjudge the Cancer Research ads all the time and then feel like a horrible person when then end comes and reveals it's an ad for a charity

lucykate · 07/07/2009 13:23

i read something in the paper a couple of weeks ago about some of the supermarket boxed salads being higher in both calories and fat than a big mac.
