to be annoyed when people say to AIBUs

Yes, there are bigger things in life. But that's true for everything. You weren't claiming it was the worst problem ever. Does that mean you're never allowed to be annoyed by things because there are always bigger problems?

agree (in general - although some of them are pathetic ). But generally speaking someone elses little "blip" is another persons life or death matter (or something like that)

But no-one ever says that to people with larger problems do they? If someone posts saying their husband's just left them no-one comes on and says "there are bigger things to worry about. be glad you've still got a house."

it does rather depend on what tha AIBU is about as to whether or not YABU. Sometimes the AIBU is very trivial in the light of other people's rather enormous problems so they justifiably feel a tad put out about it; other times they are just being right unfeeling gits and should have a bit more compassion or not post.

i mean when its something a little more trivial, most people use common sense id say. and if they done well....each to their own! but most aibu are quite contentious to begin with arn't they. most people with half a heart would not say to someone whose husband had left "count your blessings."! its the more 'trivial' ones that most people would say that about. imho anyway!

The thread where someone's talking about putting only two items on the washing machine, someone made a comment like this. Yes, it's completely obvious that it's not the most important thing ever. But you can still be grumpy about it.

but how do you define "trivial"

before Christmas last year I posted wondering if IWBU to postpone DS3's Christening as I couldn't find an organist.

To many that's trivial - to me it was HUGE - I genuinely cried at the prospect of not having someone to play for it

at the end of the day there will always be someone worse off than you. I agree that whats a big problem for one person isnt a big problem for another but thats not a reason to say it to someone who is in need of advice.
I get through problems by thinking theres someone worse off than me but I dont think i'd like it if someone actually said it to me when im asking advice.

ah well that's where the compassion bit comes in, innit. Accepting that things do matter to other people, something I find singularly lacking in some posters on here, I have to say!

2 items in a washing machine? Shocking waste of electricity, my mum used to go fruitloop with my bro for just putting his trainers in on their own! I'd be grumpy about it.

Anyway, I refuse to comment on whether or not YABU in a definitive manner, cos there are circumstances.

bugger don't think I can win this one.

Only thing is that I don't know if we'll have any money at the end of this month at all - depends on various government run departments getting their arses in gear and getting the forms sorted and money coming to us in time.........

possibly/probably won't have any money at the end of the month
can't buy the dress I want for end of the year
have mice in the greenhouse where I'm storing all the ebay/car boot stuff (= money to possibly live on)
ermmmm, errrrr have 2 baskets of ironing which DH keeps saying he's going to sort
