I've done this too.
But i'm 5'2".
Don't know who the bloke was though, but he was tall.

mrsmaidamess · 28/06/2009 19:55

I would rather topless female on shoulders than geek who watches entire concert through the medium of his outstretched mobile phone BLOCKING MY VIEW OF GEORGE MICHAEL!!!!

But I'm over it now.

pagwatch · 28/06/2009 20:00

I went to a festival last year.
I had a great time but drank more than a) I usually do and b) is acceptable for a woman who has to face the babysitter when she gets home.

I lobbed plastic cups at the girl on her boyfriends shoulders in front of me ( NB - they did not have piss in).
I was a spectacularly good shot.
When I got the back of her head several times and she still didn't get the fuck down ,about twenty people suddenly felt uninhibited and she was hit with a torrent of plackky cups. She got down.

Dh was mortified by my uncouth behaviour but very impressed at the accuracy of my throwing arm.

Fruitbeard · 28/06/2009 20:02

Shoot the lot of em.

Selfish short arses

I'm 5'4 and what the hell do you think I can see if I get stuck behind one of you selfish eejits?

Either get there early and get to the front or stand well back, you selfish sods!

Have I said you're selfish?

idranktheteaatwork · 28/06/2009 20:05

At an oasis concert in Milton Keynes a few yrs ago a complete stranger suddenly hoisted me onto his shoulders.
I think he thought he was doing some sort of caring act, ie "awww, look at de iddle piddle ladeee, bet she can't see. I um Big Man and Must Help".

No cups of piss were thrown but my partner did have a stand up row with him.And tbh, there were so many other poor ladies up there that theview wasn't that much better anyway.

shoshe · 28/06/2009 20:05

No Ikea it was his idea to put me up there (in all my HUGE floppy ribbon hairband glory)

On top of his 6'6'' shoulders

Hassled · 28/06/2009 20:06

lol at plastic cup rage.

Maybe there are actually herds of girls on shoulders, but only the pretty ones are filmed? Just off camera is Ms Average with a hacked-off looking bloke underneath her. In the same way, you never see the times the bloke falls over and the shoulder-woman is lobbed over the crowd.

Bonneville · 28/06/2009 20:21

They are attention seekers and deserve the cups of piss.

cornsilk · 28/06/2009 21:16

Agreed Bonneville. In fact there should be stalls selling cups of piss for those people who can't force one out.

Mspontipine · 28/06/2009 21:50

I spent much of U2 concert in 1985 on some stranger guy's shoulders - didn't tell him I'd come on and was totally unprepared. Was only 15 - too shy to bring it up!

cornsilk · 28/06/2009 22:56

Ewwww! Poor guy!

JudyBlume1019 · 28/06/2009 22:59

I think it's ace! why the hell not, it looks like fun, and it would look a bit shite if everyone was standing at the same level and clapping nicely after songs! people on shoulders is good. I saw a bloke with a pig mask on with 'what's new pussycat' written on his hairy chest at the tom jones glasto gig, on someones shoulders. very good.

Bonneville · 28/06/2009 23:04

Its a bloody PITA for the unfortunate soul who happens to be standing behind though. I think they are told to get down in arenas for safety reasons.

MrsMcCluskey · 28/06/2009 23:06

Its really anoying if you are stood behind silly person on shoulders
And as for 'crowd surfers' would like to drop them on the floor thank you

salbysea · 28/06/2009 23:56

oh missmadeamess yes!! the people who watch the concert through the screen on their phones! what is the point! when I went to see rodrigo and gabriella about 90% of the audience weren't looking at the stage directly - all watching it though their phones! its so stupid!

harleyd · 29/06/2009 00:00

crowd surfing is nuts, ive lost shoes, tshirts and bras on occasions

BruceSpringsteen · 29/06/2009 00:01

Hate these girls. And they are always "Look at me" girls.

PheasantPlucker · 29/06/2009 00:18

MsPontipine - was that the one at Milton Keynes Bowl with U2 plus REM, Ramones, Billy Bragg, Spear of Destiny? If so, I was there too, but not on a bloke's shoulders - it was a fab day!

MrsSpringsteen · 29/06/2009 00:25

so bloody annoying
good call op

HeadFairy · 29/06/2009 01:00

YANBU, it's really annoying and selfish, I too would lob plastic cups at them if I had any nerve.

mumof2teenboys · 29/06/2009 09:11

I think its very annoying but only because I'm far too tall and heavy to find a bloke that could cope with me up there for a millisecond.
Its just a bit of fun really though isnt it?

pagwatch · 29/06/2009 09:16

It really isn't fun when they are right in front of you. I have always been smallish and i never did it because it is farking inconsiderate - not because I couldn't have. I wish people would stop using the 'you would if you could' arguement.

southeastastra · 29/06/2009 09:19

i've never been to a concert where people have done that, thank the lord.

went to one the other day though and people left before the end, i suppose to miss the traffic . must be getting old.

Mspontipine · 29/06/2009 13:08

OMG PheasantPlucker yes it was - you scared the hell out of me just then as it sounded like you knew me!!!

Wasn't it an amazing!! Poured it down until U2 came on but when you're 15, with your best mate, smoking your first ciggies and all you have to do to get under a guy's umbrella or on his shoulders was to give him a meaningful look!! Oh those were the days.... Don't forget the Faith Brothers - bought their single after that!! U2 were at their best then really loved them then. Remember the fireworks at the end and did they play Theme from Harry's game or am I imagining that bit? It was 25 years ago!
