To think that Paul McCartney is unbearably annoying?

He is isnt he!

The peace signs make me want to tear my own eyes out.

But today I read the he said it was great to have 'hung out' with Michael Jackson

No one over the age of 20 says 'hung out', and even then it is an annoying phrase!

Portofino - if he isnt required to be cool, why does he try so damn hard?

Oh, he's a dreadful old fart.

hester · 26/06/2009 21:53

YANBU.

hocuspontas · 26/06/2009 22:01

I always liked PM, then Heather Mills said he had hit her. Now, she could easily have been making it up, but I can't get it out of my mind. His Beatles stuff was genius - often listen to the White album and Abbey Road.

Dalrymps · 26/06/2009 22:03

My DH would like to add that he is willing to put his neck on the line and say...

He cannot stand the plinky plonky sound of the ridiculously overated Beatles. They should have been called 'The Beatless'.

He would also like to add (as a fine artist himself) that he is greatly annoyed by how sh*t Paul's paintings are. He also hates the way Paul walks, talks and generally acts like he is the greatest thing on earth.

Disclamer: I'm not that bothered either way about Paul and quite like the Beatles.

hellsbelles · 26/06/2009 22:03

YANBU - I saw that quote too and it made me cringe.

But I have to agree with Mintyy....despite his hideous dye job and recent naffness (is there such a word??!)...I still love some of the earlier songs.

Frasersmum123 · 27/06/2009 07:16

I am not denying some of his work is good, however you can still be an idiot and be good at what you do!

YANBU, he's a nob

And agree with Dairymps' dh!

Spies like us? Aaaagggghhh

I do quite like that bit in Band on the Run when he goes, "If we ever get out of here" and then the rest of it turns into gormless annoying nonsense.

LundyBancroftatemyhusband · 27/06/2009 07:58

Yup, yanbu

a few good songs back in the days, but the man is very hard to watch.

LundyBancroftatemyhusband · 27/06/2009 08:00

ah about £3 according to ebay

that's gonna see me through some tough times.

ocdgirl · 27/06/2009 10:12

YANBU i just find him so repellant, he makes me want to hurl everytime i see his smarmy ugly mug lol

ABetaDad · 27/06/2009 10:24

Ask yourself this quesion would you rather spend an evening at Galastonbury listening to Tom Jones or Paul McCartney?

Tom Jones has totally reinvented himself in the last few years and is still relevant to people a generation or two younger. His son is now his manager and has been a huge part of that.

Paul McCartney has not reinvented himself and perhaps to continue his career he should have done.

southeastastra · 27/06/2009 10:35

i quite liked paul's last single. i wouldn't watch tom jones play at the end of my garden.

Nancy66 · 27/06/2009 11:15

His jackson tribute was very strangely worded. The way I interpreted it was that he felt under pressure to release something but didn't want to be too full of praise given Jackson's dodgy private life.

BitOfFun · 27/06/2009 11:24

I find him unbearably irritating and cringeworthy. My biggest fear is that the Olympics opening/closing ceremony will involve all the old farts like him and Mick Jagger etc pratting about and culminating with some big crowd version of Hey Jude....bleeuuuurgh

hocuspontas · 27/06/2009 13:33

I imagine he hates him nancy after he outbid him for the Lennon/McCartney song catalogue.

Tinker · 27/06/2009 14:05

Erm, Paul McCartney. Obviously Is this a trick question?

TheCrackFox · 27/06/2009 14:08

Oh God, BitOfFun, I fear your prediction may prove correct. The evening will be topped off with Elton John singing Candle in the Wind. The rest of the world will hate and pity us all at the same time.

BitOfFun · 27/06/2009 14:12

GrinSad

ABetaDad · 27/06/2009 18:01

Tinker - no really not a trick question.

BIL spent a great evening with Tom Jones a few years back at Galstonbury (age 30) and he is a serious Blues music fan and said it was one of the most entertaining and surprising evenings he had ever spent.

Each to their own and respect for all tastes.

Mintyy · 27/06/2009 18:35

.

Although the act I would most like to see at Glastonbury - or anywhere for that matter - is The Specials. Watching them on tv last night I was almost in tears, they were absolutely bloody magic! God, Terry Hall, just so yummy (still, even though he must be 50) and Nev Staples was looking AMAZING for a man of his years. And they sounded spot on.

Oh I've gone all nostalgic.

BroodyChook · 27/06/2009 19:42

PM is annoying, true, but Bono takes the title of 'Irritating Smug Git' by a considerable distance.

sweetnitanitro · 27/06/2009 19:51

YANBU, him and his wobbly head annoy the crap out of me.

I am also glad to discover I am not the only person in the entire world that doesn't like the Beatles.

fleetwoodmac · 27/06/2009 21:31

My mum has a special dislike for him - but then she takes notions against all kinds of people. the only one i agree with is mylene kass - and how!

paul mccartney was a musical genius and so were the Beatles.

the main thing i experience when i see him on TV is just his vacuousness, like he has nothing to say. agree about Stella M though - and so talentless!
